I like the grip on the windy roads I drive on - its like a car on rails! the EDL certainly does it for me - I used to drive a Sierra XR4x4 2.9i and this had good grip, but the Polo GTi is even better (and the fuel consumption is better LOL )

Have you considered it might be the front wheel(s)? Take them off, grease the hubs and put them on flush again. It just might be they are not located correctly. Had this on my old car and doing this fixed it. Otherwise, maybe the steering bushes or the UJ on this steering. Did you have the pedal box...

Yep, I have one... found that using it uses more petrol though!??!

I put 4 x Yokohama on mine... they're good in all weather and hold the hold well on cornering.

Could be your clutch release bearing is knackered. Suggest getting the car into a garage to check it out.
