Re: Passenger door stuck

If its the door lock module that has failed I have used the the following method. I had a Mk4 Golf, it suffered the same fault. I got two mates, put friend 1 in the drivers seat and friend 2 at the rear where the faulty door was. Friend 1 was tasked with locking and locking the doors using the butto...

Water leak into boot/rear seat

Hi all, Hope all are well. Got a 2003 5 door Polo. Suddenly it is leaking water into the boot and rear seat base. Its all down the passenger side only. At first, I thought it was just the washer fluid pipe which has join in the passenger side of the boot, as I could smell the washer fluid, so pulled...

I've read somewhere online that its used to get a quick 'full' drain on the gearbox. Its just an odd place to get a leak, cant find anything about it online.

Gearbox leaking oil

Hi all, hope you are well. I gave my car in for a service the other day, managed to get underneath to have a look around and spotted a leak on the gearbox. The leak seems to be coming from the VW logo badge which is bolted at the bottom of the gearbox, my garage hadn't seen that before. I can't find...

9N 1.4 TDI AMF clanging when running

Hi, Getting a clanging from engine/gearbox, not sure where its coming from but can sometimes change/reduce the noise if I move the gear stick around. Heard on idle. I have previoulsy had the dogbone mount changed sometimes ago, wondering if that has gone again. Was going to try and get underneath/in...

Sold car for friend - help needed

Hi all, Hope you and your families are safe and well. Basically my mate was busy before the Christmas period. He had a car. He asked me to list on my work ebay and deal with the sale. So I did. Car is clean, worked perfectly and was serviced acording to manufacturers spec if not always recorded. Car...

Re: Shaking while braking at 60+

Just an update to this: Replaced the front discs and pads. Solved the issue. No more judder and I cant feel the on/off bite on the brakes when pressing the brake pedal. To confirm, before posting on here, I had already balanced the wheels and new rear discs and pads were fitted. Also in the last few...

Shaking while braking at 60+ *Fixed*

Thought I'd post this up to get a second opinion. I'm getting shaking while braking usually at 60mph+ the faster the more violent the shake. Its through the steering wheel only. I cant feel any fedback under the pedal but I can feel where the pads are getting more grip. They are Pagid discs and pads...

Metal piece from sump plug

Hi all, Last year serviced the polo (1.4tdi, AMF) myself and bought a magnetic sump plug (for the first time, on offer at ECP). This year had it serviced from local indy as I didnt have the time. Showed me about a six inch piece of metal which he pulled from the sump plug (attached to the magnet), i...

Re: Service question

Yes common to have a filter on an autobox. Reccomended to change with the oil change.

I would use original VW oil or castrol, as it needs to be within spec or the seals will perish quicker.

Re: 1.4 tdi not starting not cranking - Sorted

It was the battery, checked for drain and then checked the battery after charging.

1.4 tdi not starting not cranking

My 1.4 tdi is not starting. Its intermittent. Thought it was the dash cam which I hard wired - possibly due to constant live. But have disconnected and still had starting fault. Have fully charged battery and give the car a run. With diagnostics its shows 14.40 vaults at the battery. Have cleaned th...

Have same 1.4tdi.

We had this a number of years ago however ours threw up an error code.

Firstly the camshaft sensor went then the crank sensor.
