Nah it's common as muck for the breather pipes to go man.

Not really buddy, as I said I never went in to it much deeper than that as the hose seemed to solve. Has a service been done lately?

My 8v used to hoof oil up in to the air filter thought the breather pipe which was knackered. I never replaced it as it was a heap so just duck taped it. Yup, it'll drink it like. I'd put my money on it being the throttle body, you can clean it with like carb cleaner u gt in Halfrauds or autosave.

What engine is it?? Mines a ARC and had a similar issue. Could be the throttle body buddy, it made need a clean. That and maybe the map sensor as well. My throttle body was in hideous nick and so was the sensor do I cleaned them both and the fault went away.
