Piece of p**s to remove the headlight unit. Remove the front grill, take teh screws out from inside the front arches and under the front corners. Unclip the end grill/trim and take out the screw behinf each then pull the bumper off the car. The headlight unuts are held in with 4 (IIRC) easily access...

OBD II Protocol?
Does anyone have any idea which protocol (ISO9141, CAN, KWP 2000 etc.) that VAG vehicles (specifically the 9n) use? I've got a generic code reader that should, according to Ross-Tech, scan the engine fault codes. However it hasn't been able to detect the protocol on either my old A3 or my current 9n...

It would defiantly be worth finding out why they've got different rods and pistons and what the differences are.
The other big consideration is that the extra £2k you'd spend to get a pd130 would buy a fair few engine parts...

The differences in the internals will be negligible. I'd be more likely to spend and extra time and money on looking for a pd130 over a pd100 if it had forged rods and pistons compare to cast or something like that. As it is they are practically the same...

It might be worth signing up to audi-sport.net and PM'ing a bloke called badger bill. He runs a company that tune VAG and races an Ibiza year in year out. What he doesn't know about the VAG 1.8T isn't worth knowing in my opinion...
