Re: Dash strip lights, night time

Weird that the strips in the Ibiza do have a colour change- they're white or red. I leave them on red, fits with the rest of the interior lighting. The Ibiza's strips are only on the doors under the decorative trims.

Re: Retractable parcel shelf

I like the solution my Fabia had. You could kind of tip the parcel shelf forwards, so it sat behind the back seats, flush with them. It's a little awkward to get it in, but once there is reasonably well secured and allows a dog a good look out!

Re: Genuine Lane Assist Retro Fitted

Having spent a day test driving a few EVs the other day with my parents, who've now just ordered an Enyaq, I can't say the lane assist stuff bothered me. Apparently in the ID.3 it's a lot better on the more recent software revision. The Enyaq we tested had Travel Assist, and I tried it on a dual car...

Re: you're never too old to learn new tricks.. MPG

I don't think I've ever seen less than 30mpg except on *really* short trips- less than a mile sort of trips. I can't imagine the 115PS version is significantly more efficient than the 95! Thrashing it on some of the twistys in the Peaks... I was getting mid-to-high 30s. This is of course the car mar...

Re: Android Auto Vs Tech Edition infotainment

You can also 'cache' large areas of the country with Google Maps, downloading it on WiFi at home.

Data is cheap- you can get a SIM only plan for £10 from GiffGaff with 9GB of data a month. I use about that and I use my phone heavily.

Re: Android Auto Vs Tech Edition infotainment

I have a 2019 Ibiza, with the factory satnav. It's rubbish in comparison to Android Auto. Android Auto will use full Google Maps, complete with dynamic routing, speed camera alerts, that sort of thing. You can long-press the voice control button on the steering wheel, and you get Google Assistant, j...

Re: This'll make Andy's jaw drop...

Paint costs are a racket that I'm amazed the EU hasn't stamped out. Metallic paint is a no cost option on VWs in Spain and the US. And all paint on Seats are 'free' in the UK. But not on Cupras. Even though a Cupra Leon is a Seat Leon with a more powerful engine and different badges. Certain paints...

Re: This'll make Andy's jaw drop...

I'd definitely be going for the 18s- I like all the designs but the 19s and 20s are just ridiculous price wise. I kind of feel like they should all have come with alloys anyway... but there we go.

Re: This'll make Andy's jaw drop...

The Ioniq 5 looks awesome. However it's a big car- deceptively so. Jonny Smith posted a pic of one up against a Kona- it may look like it's a Golf sized car, but it's really a lot larger. It competes with the ID.4, not the 3. And as someone without children or pets, I don't exactly need or want a hu...

Exactly the same spec- but I like the Makena Blue! I'm also debating being cheap and not going for the alloys... but I think I'll end up getting them. I'm 100% not set on doing it right now, I'm just very, very, tempted.

Re: This'll make Andy's jaw drop...

I went for a test drive in an ID.3 today. Really enjoyed it. It's definitely no sports car- you can tell the handling has been set up for more relaxed driving. But the instant torque just put a big smile on my place. Very comfortable and quiet on the motorway, and huge inside. Got a decent quote for...

Re: Polo AW Facelift Teased

LEDs have got so cheap that it's almost a no-brainer. Means you can advertise LED lighting even if it's barely any pricier than the old halogens. Whether the regular lights are any good remains to be seen. But the LEDs in my Ibiza are brilliant, so here's hoping!

Re: This'll make Andy's jaw drop...

What’s this 40p per unit in the public charging points? Most of the public chargers are about that for rapid charge use- but these aren't what you're using regularly. It's no different to the price of petrol in your local Tesco being a lot less than the price at a motorway services. The average hom...

Re: Phone holder recommendations

What are your AA issues? Updating to Android 11 slightly broke AA for me- it now has to be unlocked to connect to AA, whereas previously I'd just plug it in.

Re: Black badges

I'd imagine that the vinyl is translucent to the radar, whilst ice isn't. The radar doesn't like heavy rainstorms either.
