Hi all,

Firstly, apologies if this has been asked elsewhere!

I've got an 11reg 6R GTI with 31k on the clock. It's due a minor service and brake fluid change which is going to set me back around £220.

My question is, does it also need the cambelt/timing belt replacing? According to the VW website ...

I retrofitted MFSW buttons to my 6R GTI and one day some of the right hand ones randomly stopped working.

With engine/ignition off I held down all the right hand side buttons, then turned the ignition on and they came back to life. Give that a try!

Have you got VCDS Tom ?

It may be worth popping the airbag off and checking the connections and wiring incase anything has moved or been trapped. Pretty unlikely I know but worth a look.

I havent unfortunately, theres quite a lot of tinkering id like to do if i had got it!

I retrofitted the MFSW to my 2011 GTI, straight swap, plugged into control unit and all buttons lighting up and working fine for a month or so...

However, the LHS buttons all work fine still but today some of the RHS buttons have stopped working?! Up/Down/Ok works fine. But the left and ...

Hi guys, i was lucky enough to get the black/white RCD310 and climate display in my new GTI :) ive since swapped out the 310 for a 510 so im looking to sell the 310 unit if anyone is interested. Not sure if anyone would want it but its worth a try :) open to offers..!

same here mate, i was told sept 1st delivery, with a "chance" it may be delayed. And i got it last Thursday! !

Car looks sweet mate, congrats. As for fitting the RCD510, i just did this the other week. To remove the trim, i used a thin piece of flexible soft plastic ...

guys, ive managed to get myself an RCD510 unit off eBay for £295 (not bad) it should be with me on Tuesday, im aware that its just a case of removing the plastic stereo surround, undoing a few screws and swapping the units over. But how does the plastic surround come off? i assume its just clipped ...

options i had are:

-rear tints
-sensor pack (cruise control + r.parking sensors)
-convenience pack (auto-dimming RVmirror + rain sensing wipers)
-Climatronic air-con system

Tried to add the MFSW and 510 to the order but it was too late, as it arrived 2 months early!

i was surprised to find that both the RCD310 and then climatronic aircon system both have white writing on a black background now! smooooooth

Fitted one in the wife's SEL (came out of my new Scirocco) when the Polo was 1 hour old !

Took all of 10 minutes to do the swap, no coding at all. Piece of pi55. :D

So its literally just, fascia off, unscrew old one, swap for new one, screw in, fascia back on?! Cant argue with that, ill pick one ...

yeah well about 4 weeks ago i was told it would be in production middle/end of july and "should" be here for 1st september. But then today they said it was built 15/6, in the UK 22/6 and at the dealer today! Seems a little wierd but im not too fussed as you can imagine! Should be collecting it ...
