AC Light on but no AC and fan on from cold

Afternoon all.

Went to start the car this morning and the radiator fan came on straight away. Looked in the car and the AC switch was light up, pressed it a couple of times to turn it off but it wont turn off even though the air con isn't/cannot be working.

A couple of weeks ago the car wouldn't ...

MOT Fail - Rack End

Righteo, the Polo failed the MOT a couple if days ago due to play in the rack end. I've been told by the guy that its a stealer part only. Is that right? He reckons because its a face lift model and didnt make it for very long that you cant buy them from a MF. Its a Y 2001 6n2 1.4 16v AUB.

Re: Loss of Power & Using Lots of Fuel

Well the oil, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter were changed 4500 miles ago. It may be worth changing the fuel filter again as the misus has run the car pretty dry on a couple of occasions. I didnt bother with the spark plugs or leads. I read on here somewhere that NGK were the best plugs to get ...

Re: Loss of Power & Using Lots of Fuel

You dont think the 2 issues are related then. When i say loss of power i mean the car will not rev above 2k. It happened once when i was driving out of Tesco. I just turned the car off and on again but that wasnt at 60mph driving on a dual carriage way. As you can imagine it scared the s**t out of ...

Loss of Power & Using Lots of Fuel

Hi all, driving home tonight the missus told me her Y plate 6n2 100bhp suddenly lost power, the dash lights came on (inc oil etc). She also mentioned that before she drove the 30 miles home she had 3/8 of a tank of fuel (half way between quarter and half) but when she got home she needs fuel again ...

Had A Go At Polishing Pepperpots - Before & After

I had a spare set of Audi Pepperpots hanging around the garage and thought to myself at 3.00 today, I think I'm going to have a go at polishing them. They dont owe me anything (came with the car), plus, I hate them (ideally want to swap them & the Audi wheels i have now with new tyres and adaptors ...

Re: The Plot Thickens with Overheating

If it was the water pump thr car would have cooked itself a long time ago. This is an historical fault. Besides the water pump not working would still not account for the fan not coming on with me shorting it wiv a wire. There's power getting to the fan, i checked with the voltmeter but the fan just ...

The Plot Thickens with Overheating

Right, after the overheating incident on Tuesday I have now replaced the expansion tank, cap and coolant. I started to investigate why this has happened (once with me and once with the previous owner). I let the car run to see if the fan was running but it wasn't. I replaced the switch but still ...
