Thanks it was plugged into the wiring loom but the micro switch end was just hanging down and not attached to anything I will have a look to see if it could connect to bonnet or inner wing

Anybody know what this is (from my sons 2002 1.2 polo 9n

It was plugged in to the loom near drivers side head light
Just trying to find out what it is for no error codes or lights in dash since unplugged
Any ideas?

The 9N uses a negative earth switch

Only one wire locks and unlocks the doors blue with white stripe you can locate this where it comes from the door into the car you will have to remove bonnet release cover to get good access to the loom

On the open you need a neg earth pulse with a 180 ohm .25 ...

sounds like coil packs or poss spark plugs ?
worth a check

take a bulb out see if you get a notification on dash
if not then no

My son has the same 52plate 1.2 twin cam that is doing 42 mpg euban

My 330 ci is averaging 31 mpg but I can get it down to 16 mpg no problem

My guess is your been a bit heavy with the right foot

My son has a 2002 52plate 1.2e (round lights)
This has key only central locking
I have bought a conversion kit from eBay to convert to remote central locking
I have searched the net for an idiots guide to fitting this as the wiring diagram that came with it may as well be in French
