Hello.
I sold my Clio 182 to buy a Polo 9N3 in June last year. Basically doing 90 or so miles a day in the 182 was hurting my wallet so bought a diesel. Mine is a 2009 1.4 TDI Match - slow and boring coming from a 182 but if you want to save money it works. Any questions fire away.

Re: Tom's TDI
Yeah I did, put my foot down and the power isn't there. Driving style has changed totally going from two totally different cars. The Clio being very fun, where as a diesel 1.4 is the opposite, boring as fcuk. As I say, the Polo never stood a chance from the word go with regards to how it handles. Bu...

Re: Tom's TDI
Yeah just want something where I can put it into the bends without feeling like its going to roll over. Out of the 4 cars I've owned, this is the worse in the bends by a long way. Re the rear anti roll bar, how do you fit it? Is it straight forward? Not to familiar with them, so no idea on fitting o...

Re: Tom's TDI
I loved my 182. Really miss it, wish I hadn't sold it TBH. I liked the seating position, as I did the steering wheel. I have had a 1.2 of the same shape so used to it I guess. Sold it as I was doing over 80 miles a day, so decided to buy a diesel, mistake really. Anyway, handling is awful as we say,...

Re: Tom's TDI
Nice thread. How'd you find the handling now compared to standard springs? I have an '09 TDI and TBH, it's completly shocking in the bends. Thinking about coilovers and am hoping these improve the handling alot. Coming from a Renaultsport Clio 182 doesn't help, either. Also, once its lowered, do you...

Re: Possibly returning to VW
Why the change may I ask? I came from a Clio 182 to my Polo.
I guess if you wanted more power then it has more capabilities, but on the fun front, you won't get better than the Clio.

Re: Cambelt change for TDI.
It's either 60k or 80k, but I can't get a definitive answer!
May just ring VW, although they will say 60k no doubt...

Re: Cambelt change for TDI.
So cambelt is 80k for the diesel? I guess it's 60k for the petrol models/GTi then, yeah? OK sound, just wanting a rough idea before I get prices. But if it is 80k, then I have a while yet before needing to worry about it. To be honest, I did think 60k was a bit early for a diesel, especially as they...

Cambelt change for TDI.
Hello. Just wanting a bit of clarification really on the timing for the cambelt to be changed on MY09 Polo TDI. I have heard different intervals of people getting them done, but not sure whether the GTi is different to my diesel, so want to know for sure as my car is currently on 53k. I have looked ...

Re: Brake discs and pads.
Right, took my car to the garage this morning and asked them to check the brake discs and pads. Called me up and advised me that the pads are worn, the discs are OK however they are not straight so the pad isn't rubbing against it very well therfore not having as much braking effect. So I had both t...

Re: Brake discs and pads.
Yeah the discs have a lip on, and have done for a while.
Thing is, on my last car, one minute they were fine, the next they were grinding really badly.
I guess all I can do is go get them checked tomorrow and go from there.
Thanks for your help

Re: Brake discs and pads.
Yeah was thinking of going and asking whether they actually need changing, but thought knowing these garages they will say they do anyway just to earn a few bob. Last thing I want to do is fork out £200 when I don't need to. Plus, my car is on 52k, so is this mileage sound like the pads would be wor...
