thanks for that, turns out the info from the non-mechanical son was wrong, it's just the seals blown still big $$$$$!

the cam box sits on top of the head and holds the cams, like this:

the cam box on my son's GTI is cracked and leaking oil onto the #1 spark plug, I can get a 1.4 16V cam box from a 104km motor, does anyone know if this cam box is compatible with the 1.6 16V engine?
