Got this problem too. sure there was a guide on here somewhere to fix it.
Puddle lights work when passenger door open but not drivers door.

I got a 2002 1.2 65 S [A/C] and usually fill up 10 litres a week which gets me between 80 - 90 miles (37 - 41MPG).
Light footed driving style and change gears at 2200RPM, drive 30mph zones in 5th gear doing 1500RPM.
Boring driving like this as the polo starts to become fun at 3000+ RPM.
