The tensioner bolts on from the right side of the bracket via 1 bolt which apparently is 13mm and is set in a recess on the right side of the bracket by the oil filter.Alternator is off completely and no visable way of getting to said bolt.Think the bracket has to come off to get to it so with that ...

had a look alex and still no help.I know the bolt hole is near the oil filter but there is physically no way to get a socket there without remove other parts first.

ok this is doing me in now! tell me do I need to remove the bracket that holds the alternator/tensioner/etc as I can't see a way of getting to the bolt? Also looks like the air con compressor (I think) also needs to come off as attatched to the same bracket? really getting fed up with this now ...

Replacing alternator tensioner

Trying to change my alternator tensioner and can't work out how :oops:
Alternator is out and I got a new tensioner/belt/altenator to go on but can't see how as its so tight in the bay and I don't have a manual!

Any help is greatly appreciated :D

I think the parking light only works when you leave the indicator on.ie leave it on left turn and left rear light will stay on and vice versa.
Have you checked the bulb's connections?

just reading through the thread on gti's and from what I can work out was there only ever 2258 3dr gti's made? or was that just the number sold as its also states there were 500 in each colour (only 3 apparently) and in both door ...

listing states its for alternator.

was just curious about the connections! I know some manufacturers like to add quirky bits!!

:oops: not had cambelt done since I've owned it but I've only done around 2000 miles and previous owner maintained the car regardless off cost but will do when funds ...

also just noticed they do a v-ribbed belt set,belt + tensioner:

probably best to replace these as I believe they have never been changed from new and I'm on 103,000 now

not cam belt but the alternator belt (is there only 2 belts on the car?).
cannot find a bosch alternator with corresponding part numbers that match yours.

Also do you happen to know the part numbers i'd need for alternator/tensioner/belt so I check their prices as vw want £180 for a new eco alternator so wanted to compare prices?
Apparently the alternator is 90amp but i'd prefer 120amp as of stereo and other electical stuff going in the car but ...
