Re: Head gasket failure ?

The only way to be sure is a sniffer check on the header tank for co2. I did this test only last week on my daily hack (cough MGZS) and the fluid went instantly from red to yellow

Needless to say I’ve just rebuilt a K series engine.

Re: Climatronic fuse blowing

Hi Carrera,

Was the G65 sensor the culprit in the end? I’ve not been on here for a while but I’m interested in outcomes for future reference!

Cheers.

Re: Am I going crazy are the side mirrors different sizes

It might be worth looking on eBay at a European seller for their drivers side mirror if that makes sense. You may also be able to use Mk4 golf parts to make a large mirror using thenpolo base.

Re: GSF parts

Don’t go there they are useless. I tried a few years back and they just give you the ‘bigger’ part thinking it must be GTI when it’s actually a TDI or 16v etc. ARB drop links is one of many examples. They don’t actually do GTI spares. I’ve used TPS ever since but the oem supplies are depleting nowad...

Re: Couple of issues

If the CL pump is working check all the pipes for air leaks as that is often the cause of nothing unlocking 👍🏼

Re: Gearbox oil

I got the genuine stuff from TPS. Part no. G 060 726 A2. If not google that number and you might get an alternative.

It’s a fill to spill so as you say it’ll pour out when full. I think it was about 4 litres mine took but I can’t remember for sure.

Re: Retro fit Auto lights?

Cheers Alex, I’ll have to check the plug. Makes life easy not forgetting lights as my Golf and van are auto 😂.

It has the newer brushed alloy effect switch too 👍🏼

Retro fit Auto lights?

I’ve just fitted an aftermarket auto light switch, control box and stand alone sensor to my T5.1 van. It works really well and it has show you home function etc. I was wondering if the same kit would work on the 6n2? I had read on the T5 forums that it’s wiring is much like a 6n2 polo so wondered if...

Re: Red grill trim

I went down a different route with my grill, I got a roll of red ‘go faster’ strip and stuck that around the front edge. It looks perfect even close up and hasn’t faded in 8 years. I got it from Halfords iirc.

Re: Polo gti 6n2 won’t start!

I’d change that first. There is a ‘how to’ on here somewhere. It tells you which fuse to pull to kill off the fuel pump, start car to drain pressure away until it cuts out then change the filter, refit fuse and crank until it starts again.

Hope that fixes it....

When was the fuel filter last changed? They can cause this symptom.

Re: Steering wheel shaking - advice/experience requested

It sounds like the caliper then, I had it with my Golf a month back.

Reference CV joint, put the steering on full lock and drive slowly in a circle then do the same on the opposite lock. If an outer joint has gone, you’ll hear it grind or knock, you may even feel it through the steering wheel.
