I'm due to pick up my car tomorrow first thing and wanted to put through a change of car with my current insurance provider, Esure.

Annoyingly, the Facelift GTI's are not available to select, only the older models with less PS, and as my new registration plate hasn't registered ...

Question re: the facelift version - am I going to need to get a Faraday pouch for my keys?

I test drove a facelift version at the weekend and know I didn't have to put the key in the ignition to start the car. But I don't know if the car also unlocked as I approached or if it was already open.

By way of update, VW quoted just over £1000 for replacement panels

For getting it wrapped somewhere locally, I think it's going to be around the £300 mark. Which still sounds pretty expensive but not something I'm sure I'd feel confident doing myself!

We all have different likes. Find the grey dull dull dull . Love my red dash, it lifts what is the usual dour VW interior.


I actually didn't mind the matt pinky red colour in the pre facelift version but I'm having an allergic reaction to the tone and shiny'ness of the facelift gloss red ...

I'm researching vinyl wraps now as an alternative - might be the best and most reasonably priced solution! Any reason not to do?

I just bought a 2016 GTI and too notice the unusually short gear stick, which is somewhat uncomfortable to reach for. Was there a solution to the OP’s question?

I put through a quote on Orange Wheels and a VW dealer in Chester tried to explain the situation. I think the gist of it was that the Orange Wheels website is fed by CAP, and CAP had likely entered expected residual values, thereby allowing a purchase price to be calculated. I see the French site has more models - and their configurator actually includes the black roof options. Can’t decide if I like it or not!

Road noise doesn't bother me but then I'm on my 5th Polo so I'm not used to having something more refined!

Each time I get a new car I always make sure I set the GALA feature so that the volume increases with the speed of the car.
