have you tried bleeding the coolant system you might have an airlock in it ?

iv been looking on the internet but I can get nothing. I have a 1.4 16v 6n2 the 75bhp and my mate has a 1.6 16v gti 100bhp. so last week he snapped a bolt in . his block when changing his head gasket and just got a new engine with manifolds the lot.
