Re: I drive, film and review the facelift 2017 Golf GTI and R!

Good reviews Joe and also thanks for getting some decent footage of an Issac Blue Gti, as I have a performance pack on order in that colour and accurate images that show the true shade seem short on the ground.

With regard to the debate about GTi vs R, my own view was that yes the R is very good ...

Re: DSG Bluegt brakes

Don't have a DSG, but the brakes on my BGT are mediocre at best. There's a spongy feel to the pedal and at standstill the brake pedal can be depressed right to the floor; I also have an annoying squeak at certain pedal pressure. Needless to say the dealer says there is nothing wrong!

Anyway, now ...

Re: Mirror link

Just picked up a 64 plate SE today.

Does Google maps work with Mirrorlink? As that'd be my only interest for getting it given the steep cost.

Phone is Moto Z play running Nougat 7.0

Think it depends on the version of Mirrorlink installed and phone - early versions of Mirrorlink seemed ...

Re: Common faults

Just the usual - service history, accidents, hpi, etc.

I have a 2015 BlueGT and have had no problems apart from squeaking brakes (but the dealer seems to be deaf, so keeps telling me there's no issue!)

Re: blueGT? or Match? 2014

Tyre noise increases as they wear. My B GT is on 16K miles and though the tyres have got plenty of tread on them, I think the road noise is increasing.

Can't comment on a Polo Match, but we bought my daughter a Fabia MK3 1.2 SEL last year and it rides considerably more comfortably than the B GT ...

Re: Anyone purchased with drive the deal

Have bought several cars through DtD, including current B GT and A6 Allroad. No problems whatsoever and they are generally the cheapest around.

You could also try Carwow and/or take the DtD quote to a VW dealer near you and see if they'll match it.

Re: New polo gti any alternatives to paying for sat nav?

It depends on your phone. But in theory, yes. I think Car-Net-App-Connect is supposed to be for exactly that purpose! I would recommend trying your phone in a car before you order though, to make sure it all is compatible.
I'm not sure that VW would have deliberately provided a £100 extra so that ...

Re: Lead times

5 door B GT with xenons, climate, sat nav, winter pack, parking sensors, light & sight & arm rest.

Ordered 01.12.14, arrived 01.05.15, so roughly 21 weeks.

Re: New GTI

It's worth remembering that if you take out the VW finance (and get the extra discount) you can pay off the finance in full within a couple of weeks or so of taking delivery and you'll still retain the discount.

I wasn't aware this was possible, so thank you for the tip for next time. I'm still ...

Yes, but it isn't immediately obvious how you do this.

Select "new destination" and then select the 'City' option (touch the screen in the box next to City).

In the next screen there is a box in the bottom LH corner that says Ptcd. Press this and you'll be able to enter a 7 digit postcode ...

I don't think climatronic is a straight swap.

I'm sure this was a question asked quite recently, so might be worth doing a search.

Re: Advice please

Fuel consumption varies according to circumstances. Ours averages around 44 mpg (according to car) but is often used for shortish journeys and at busy times (it's also a manual gearbox).

Steady progress on decent A roads will see it easily into the mid / high 50's and I even saw 72 mpg once, albeit ...

Re: Best factory fit options for Polo BlueGT

You say the reversing camera is not necessary, perhaps not for you but if you are disabled by spinal injury it is just about the best extra available and it makes my life much easier. My son, who is not disabled also finds it very useful if he has to reverse out of our garage across the footpath ...
