I have examined the boot from every angle. In fact I spent a relaxing week in there, exploring the bits that most tourists never get to see. I rate it as a two star accomodation. It's somewhat cramped and noisy, plus the red colour gave me a headache, but it does have a certain olde worlde ambience ...

Ugly.

Yikes, I wouldn't ride anything that wore a bra like that.

It was just a thought. The parking light is the only contact in the ignition switch that is connected when the ignition is set to 'off'. When you turn on a parking light, it feeds power through the ignition switch into the lighting circuit, instead of directly through the fusebox like the main headl...

Fuuel pump relay

Ok, i'll check that out first then. It's reassuring to hear that someone else has had the same problem and fixed it easily enough.

Thanks!

Maybe it's for the parking light?

Instead of turning the lights on, try just leaving one indicator on when you turn the ignition off, and see if that works. If it does then I think it's probably just a side effect of the 'parking light' feature.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone, As I said, there isn't a paint code sticker in my boot, believe me I have looked. Not in the wheel well, not on the floor, not on the slam panel. Must have been thoughtfully removed by a former owner. It's a 91 coupe which makes it too early for Flash Red. Indian red is a darker col...

Wierd and annoying fuel pump problem.

My car cas developed a strange fault. Normally when you turn the ignition on, you hear the 'whirr' noise of the fuel pump priming. Lately, this sometimes doesn't happen, and if I try to start it it doesn't fire. If I turn the ignition off and on a few times, it will eventually kick in, then the car ...

Help guess my paint code...

Can anyone make an educated guess as to what shade of red my car is?Unfortunately there doesnt seem to be a sticker in the boot with the code on. I would describe it as bright red. From my bits of research, being an early 90's mark 3 Polo means that it could be either 'Mars red' or 'Tornado red'. Do...

Its a stupid Microsoft gimmick. Fortunately you can turn it off. In IE, go to Options / Internet Options / Advanced tab Scroll down to the 'Multimedia' section Uncheck the box that says 'Enable automatic image resizing' Uncheck the box that says 'Enable image toolbar' Close IE then restart it and it...

Thanks!

Thanks everyone.

So, to sum up, tinted windows were fitted to all late model Mk2's and Mk3 Genesis models, plus maybe on a few other special editions.

You'd think that wouldn't be too hard to find wouldn't you? Well, I hope it's at least cheap when I eventually do find one.

interesting...

hmm, interesting... mine don't seem to have any nuber relating to the shade of tint. They have a couple of serial / part numbers and the tinted ones say 'tinted' at the bottom. I think at this point, I'll have to settle for any tinted piece I can find, with the theory that any tinted piece is going ...

I think they're all noisy...

The Polos I've driven have all had noisy fuel pumps compared to other cars, so don't assume it's faulty just because it's a little loud. Unless it's really loud or making some irregular noises it's probably normal. I suspect they just sound bad because the Mk3 doesn't have much in the way of soundpr...

factory tinted windows...

Does anybody know if there are different types of factory tinted glass, or are they all the same? I know the Genesis had tints, but were there diferent colours? Did any of the Mk2's have tints? I've looked in a few scrappies, but none of the Polo's I've seen had tinted windows. All I need is the lit...

Flashing lights...

I think the flashing temperature light might be a red herring. I think if the temperature gauge is reading normal then I'd be inclined to believe it. Both my brother's old mk2 1.05 and my current 1.3 have both had temperature warning light problems. The gauge also went dead on the 1.05, but that tur...
