Re: 2015 Polo GTI Configurator
...Looks like a second hand Golf R for me then. It looks like the new Polo GTI has very similar performance to the Golf Mk5 R32. I was looking at the Polo GTI configurator again. As I understand it the Polo GTI comes as standard with LED headlights. A very expensive option on some cars. Yet Bi-Xeno...

Re: 16" vs 17" wheels.....pros/cons ?
Sorry I can't make any recommendations, but I am aware of some of the pros and cons. Up sizing your wheels... Pros: car looks better and handles better. Cons: noise increased, comfort reduced, more expensive tyres and insurance. My car comes as standard with 17" alloys. I currently have 16"...

Re: Winter Wheels On
You're right, but 4WD does provide additional 4-wheel engine braking which, on snow and ice, is a very nice thing to have :) Engine braking is fine as long as you have room to do so, but remember not all 4WD systems are created equal... Is Haldex the system VW use? This is from Wikipedia, "Dis...

Re: Polo GTI 2015 Roadtest
Happy New Year everyone. What I like about the new Polo GTI is the manual option. And I currently drive a DSG! Don't get me wrong - the DSG is brilliant once you learn (flappy paddles) how to drive it. But that review is correct - in full auto there is always a delay. Also, I think in the real world...

Re: Polo GTI 2015 Roadtest
I would have ordered a GTI instead of a BGT if VW had toned down the styling a bit more. The red strip that continues into the headlights is especially nasty (and very difficult to remove), and there's far too much silly red stitching inside  You could just get a red car. Then it is all coord...

Re: Winter wheels & tyres - BlueGT
I bought 4 old alloys from a breakers yard and had 4 winter tyres fitted to them. Fine as long as you don't mind a couple of hours jacking and heavy lifting twice a year. And my car looks poo on the old alloys. The alternative I guess is buy 4 winter tyres to replace your existing ones, but I didn't...

Re: Winter Wheels On
Yes, as you discovered with the S3, 4WD is good for getting going and keeping going, but steering and braking in ice/snow is just the same as 2WD. I know from personal experience that 4x4 is a great feature on a tractor. So I was considering getting Quattro in my next car. I did a google search '4 ...

Re: 2015 Polo GTI Configurator
Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC): Variable suspension settings – choice of three settings: Sport, Comfort and Normal. At a bargain £245! If it's true DCC that's great. The Golf DCC is around £800. I doubt if it will be the same system. I have the old ACC (adaptive chassis control) system on my Mk6 Gol...

Re: Winter wheels & tyres - BlueGT
dont bother.... waste of money! you have a light, front wheel drive car and in the UK which means the snow/ice will last about a month maybe month and a half... alot of money for a short amount of time, pull your socks up and dont drive like a hooligan  Agreed. I bought a set of winter wheels ...
