Re: The Guardian reporting Polo 1.2TSI Engine failures, oh no!

My comments are in the other thread from years ago. I don't have any subsequent information and haven't had any issues since, but only have 15,000 km on the car, a late 2014 Cross-Polo 81kW made in South Africa. In summary, I received a phone call from my dealer in New Zealand to bring the car in fo...

Re: Polo 6C 1.2 TSI Recalls..

Came up first item on google: https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Golf_VII

If your build date is later than mid-2014 you likely don't have anything to worry about.

To keep up with your edited post, yes, you would need to have VW check your VIN otherwise rely on them calling you.

Re: Polo 6C 1.2 TSI Recalls..

Golf mk7, registered May 2014 Engine no. is CJZB516893 4 cylinder, 1197cc, 83 bhp Below is exactly what the Dealership technician put on his technical report: Bolt for the inlet camshaft adjuster has come out and has damaged the camshaft carrier and the cylinder head which is now leaking engine oil...

Re: Polo 6C 1.2 TSI Recalls..

The campaign is about screws loosening on the intake cam pulley, nothing to do with the tensioner as far as I'm aware.

As you certain as to the failure specifics and have VW confirmed that your vehicle was affected by the 15E7 campaign?

Re: Cam belt or Cam chain?

The EA211 (1.0-1.4 range, latest euro6) cam belt is polyester and runs slightly looser than you might expect. Pull the cover off and have a poke around. Mine was subject to a recall mid-2015 as the cam pulley was defective.

Re: Cam belt or Cam chain?

It's a maintenance-free belt now on your EA211 engine.

Re: Scuffed wheels

My Cross Polo has 17s and 40 profile tyres and I've sustained similar damage. What I did was remove the wheel and let the air out of the tyre then use a paint scraper to hold the tyre away from the rim face while I carefully filed off the damage. Sanded with fine wet/dry (wet) till very smooth then ...

Current model Cross Polo owners, are you happy with the handling?

Owned the car a year now and I'm finding the handling is not as good as I think it should be.
Not sure if it's the soft springs/damping or 15mm taller-than-stock Polo ride height.
What do other owners think?

Re: Polo 6C 1.2 TSI - Has Intercooler?

All modern turbo engines are intercooled.
On the current TSI models the intercooler is build into the intake manifold and the air is cooled with the same liquid coolant the engine uses but it has it's own separate radiator.

Re: Start/Stop

... can't the car be left in drive and the handbrake applied? If so, then what is the issue about response time from engine, when I am at a junction waiting for a slot to move into, I don't hold the car on the foot brake - that is just being selfish to following drivers - I have the handbrake on, n...

Re: Start/Stop

I disabled mine in VCDS only because when I get out of my car to open or close the garage door it shuts off and requires a key restart. It should be smart enough to stay "on" in park (DSG.) The system predicts the voltage required for the next restart and that can be adjusted (in VCDS) upw...

Re: Polo 6C 1.2 TSI Recalls..

Yes, that sounds plausible and likely as it would minimise the delay in production. If the dealer is no help all you can do is keep a close eye on it until more is known. I would imagine there is a an initial small oil leakage over days or weeks that could be spotted. Lifting back the cover slightly...
