First Mot car had to have middle bracket welded, second Mot car had to have middle bracket welded again. Poor design to much stress going onto bracket a bit like the duff pedal box.

My GTi averaged back to the dealers every 4 months (servicing/warranty work, fixing poor warranty work) over 4 1/2 years. Replaced the car with second hand Honda Civic Type R, never had any problems in 11 months.

Try turning it the opposite way, so as to open the gap (there is a special tool for doing this, Halfords sell em £20). Undo the brake fluid cap as you will be compressing the pistons. Make sure none spills on anything

I had mine replaced under warranty (anti corrosion warranty is 10 years I think). Boot handle is alloy goes porous so moisture comes from the inside surfaces of the boot handle which probably doesn't have laquer on.

Leaky rear wash wipes don't help either as the hose pipe is on the lock mechanism ...

I ocassionally had this problem as well I think it is because the car still thinks it hasn't warmed up yet and is still on choke. I mentioned it to dealer, but they could never find a fault.
The quickest method to cure it is to restart the engine worked every time for me.

Don't use the rear wash when the windscreen wash is frozen in the winter. This pushes the pipe off.

Sounds like a good idea because every GTi you see has wheel corrision The wheels are just not suitable for the UK climate (salt on the roads in the winter).
