The reason I ask is, if I end up racing a Mk2 Polo, I'm thinking that 5 ratios will be better than 4, with a peaky/high rpm engine.

Quick question, which models/specification level, Mk2 Polos came with a 5 speed gearbox? Did anyone Mk1's have a 5 speed?

Any ideas of the gearbox codes as well if anyone knows?

SteB - those Germans are crazy aren't they, the reason they put the 16v head on to the 1300's is because of their hillclimb/sprint regulations being upto 1300cc and the block has to be the original from that particular car ...
