Have you checked the solenoid?

Re: Fuel Tank Capacity

The nominal capacity is as you say 45L. The tank does have a higher capacity but the extra volume is to allow for worst case expansion without overflow on a very hot day. By stating a lower nominal capacity the car makers seek to absolve themselves from responsibility should an “overfilled” tank exp...

Re: 2014 Polo Gt Blue motion

That doesn’t sound like a lot of fun. I’ve had a BGT from new, I’ve never experienced anything like that so I’d say it’s abnormal.

Re: Blue GT 2017 (6R) - Timing Belt and Water Pump Replacement

Blue GT 2017 would be a 6C not a 6R although, just to cause confusion some of the serial numbers will mention 6R.

Apologies for an obvious question but were you pressing the brake pedal when you checked the supply wire for voltage?

Re: Lambda Sensor Blue GT

Thanks, not really sure just a casual remark from MoT tester today, “it’s showing a cat fault, we’ll sort it out next year. I think the problem is that since lockdown it’s been only short local trips but I’ve done 600 motorway miles over the last couple of weeks so something should have burnt off. W...

Lambda Sensor Blue GT

Any thoughts on a reasonable life expectancy for the Lambda sensor?

Has anybody any positive experience of cleaning a carboned up sensor?

Re: Idle creep for reverse not working

I’m not sure it could be so many things but a competent VW garage should sort it out at a service. Hopefully one of the more VW specific forum members will know if there is a simple way to adjust the idle speed. Before cars were taken over by mutant computer processors it was just the tweak of a scr...

Re: Idle creep for reverse not working

Idle speed. The rpm that the engine idles at in neutral ie without any load. Mechanical losses are greater in reverse as it involves additional gears to reverse the direction of the output. Extra gears mean more friction for the engine to overcome. It may require more revs to pull away in reverse th...

Re: Idle creep for reverse not working

Has your idle speed dropped?

There are greater mechanical losses using reverse so a small drop in idle speed could prevent creep whilst not affecting first gear creep.

That’s a generic rather than Polo based answer.

Re: Drilling a hole in rear wheel arch body to adjust KW

In the early days of the Mini we used to cut a slot in the rear bulkhead, two if it was a twin tank variant to allow access to the shock absorber top mounting without the tiresome job of removing the fuel tank. We were always careful to radius the corners and carefully dress the hole and forming a l...

Re: 6R Air Conditioning Retrofit

I’m reality it would be cheaper and much less hassle to sell your car and buy one with air conditioning. Although given time and money virtually any modification is possible sometimes you have to put your arms up in the air and say no. If you do decide to go ahead I wish you every success, it won’t ...

Re: What's do people think of mud-flaps?

I think you are either being naive or extremely optimistic to expect a dealer to admit liability. The advice they have given you has no validity unless you have it in writing and very importantly the advisor is qualified and authorised to make such judgements. If you fit or have fitted accessories t...
