mine did that power lag thing, it ended up being a blocked cat. this might not be in your case. just thought i'd let you know

got her back 2day, no rattle :D , when i went 2 pick her up the guy showed me the belt, tensioner and pulley, all were knackered, lucky i stopped driving her when i did, it could have went any time. any way t new timing belt and alt belt now :lol:

had a look today, on the belt i spotted 2 niks. before the belt goes over the first of the 2 big top cogs it is loose. do you think the rac will take it to my garage for me??

suppose the the belt breaks or comes off during the journey to the garage, wont that damage the engine

rattle

hi all, went to drive my 1.4 16v 97 polo today, but i can hear a rattling sound coming from the engine :cry: . i think its coming from under the cam belt cover. do you think its safe to drive to my garage about 5 miles away.

this happened to my girlfriends one, i changed th pluggs loads of times, couldn't find the problem. even called out the aa and rac whenit eventually refused to start they thougt it was the fuel pump, but the plugs were getting wet with fuel so it weren't. had to take it to vw :cry: it turned out to ...

Stil haven't sorted it, well i aint really tried. spoke to a guy at VW he said there is a crank surround that the motor goes into, that might have gone. it's worth a try, for about a fiver cos i don't really wanna pay 215 for a new motor and its not that!!!

yeah i put the motor back in but nothing happens. i can just hear it moving.
think i might have to take the roof off, but don't know where to start.

checked the motor yesterday, its fine it moves freely in both directions. do you think it may not have enough power to move the roof

tried to get some shocks n springs for my polo 1.4 16v from gsf today, but the lady behind the counter said they don't do em for the 16v it's gonna be a dealer job :( .
