Re: New GTI

I've had my Polo GTI on order since april and got fed up waiting with VW putting the build of my car back and back and eventually I gave up waiting, and i've bought another Golf (in R32 guise) instead so am looking to cancel my order.

However, my car now has a build week confirmed NEXT WEEK.

I ...

Re: New GTI

Modifications aren't really a problem, VW aren't bothered when it comes to warranty e.g. if you've fitted lowering springs, aftermarket exhaust etc at the end of the day they are all bolt on bits that can easily be changed, i've had warranty work done previously on cars with modifications e.g. remap ...

Re: New GTI

Would be interesting to see a table of everyone who has ordered a GTI, what gearbox and 3/5 dr and then order date and delivery date, might help people in the future.

VW's website does say DSG gearboxes could take longer though, so that might be a reason, although 6 months is still way too long ...

Re: New GTI

Ouch, that doesn't sound very good at all. Have they given you any ideas as to why it's taking so long? Have you ordered a 3 or 5 door, as they say that 5 door can take up to 5 months?

Got my order number today so at least I can track it online and not nag the dealer for updates every week. I did ...

Re: New GTI

I've just ordered mine, dealer says they've placed the order today. They reckon "end of November at the latest", but obviously it's just an estimate

I would seriously take any 12-14 week quotes they are giving you with a pinch of salt!

I ordered first week of April and am still waiting for it to ...

Re: New GTI

I'm guessing its a private registration, I had looked at a couple which are quite cool using advantage of the GT15, can make things like GTI 5LOW which is quite cool.

Mine is going to be a '65 now though, so will stay as a '65 for a couple of weeks to show off then my cherished plate will go on!

Re: New GTI

Yeah the way I looked at it was the things I wanted weren't expensive and made a few pounds difference in the monthly payments so why not?

Also just realised my post above didn't include the VW deposit contribution, so i'm only paying £18k for the car!

Mine has been delayed to a point where I ...

Re: New GTI

Thought I'd create myself an account, as I'm very close to ordering a new GTI
Going for the 3dr Manual, didnt get to test drive one though. Nightmare trying to find one, had to settle for a DSG test drive and a play around with the toys in other Polos.
Looking at a fair bit of kit, sport pack, Sat ...

Re: New GTI

FINALLY got a 'confirmed' build week for my GTI of week 37 (second week of september!!!) after ordering on 13th April.

Delivery likely sometime early October.

Been disappointed with the delay, they've said the build week won't be any later and could be bought forward and that if it hasn't been ...

Re: New GTI

It has been alledged that a disgruntled or sacked worker deleted loads of delivery info earlier in the year . I often wonder if yours , Andy, was caught up in that. Whatever it is something has gone very wrong. Would have been quicker for you to have purchased one already landed at a UK dealer ...

Re: New GTI

Guys, you have so much passion for GTIs, after reading the whole thread I cannot wait for mine :)

We have seen a few pictures, mostly of red, black and white versions. Does anyone have the Silk Blue one and can share some pics, preferably with sunroof? I'm ordering tomorrow and colour is the last ...

Re: New GTI

Called my dealer today. My unconfirmed build week has slipped again from 29 to 36. I made it perfectly clear to him I found this ridiculous and am in the mind of cancelling if it slips any more. He couldn't give any reasons why. So it will definitely be a 65 reg now I'm sure. Dealer having to MOT ...

Re: New GTI

I've read a few reviews that recommend using premium unleaded. What type of fuel are you guys using in your new GTI's?

The filler cap indicates that the fuel to use is 95 RON, and the manual states "The vehicle may be filled with petrol that has a higher octane number than the engine requires ...
