How to bypass leaking heater matrix
I've been meaning to post this for some time now, as I have long since sold my 2000 Polo 1.4 TDi. I had a leaking heater matrix and had to take the whole dashboard out to replace it (not a job I'd want to do again for some time!), but before replacing the matrix I stopped the leak by bypassing the m...

Seat replacement
I hope someone can help... I have recently been to a scrap yard to get a new glove box, as the opening handle snapped off mine, while I was there I spotted that the seats in the scrapped car were better and less worn than my own, the only problem is that they do not have the base tilt adjustment lev...

Re: BlueGT pulls right harshly under heavy braking
Thanks RUM4MO; I have fitted the caliper return springs and I have not had the binding issue when releasing the handbrake since fitting them. I manually bled the brakes with an assistant and there was some air still in one of the rear lines (driver side I think), now the brakes are still firm but it...

Re: Split handbrake cable rubber boot
Thanks Alex. I've just filled the boot up with white grease in the hope of keeping water out.

Split handbrake cable rubber boot
Can anyone suggest where I can get replacement rubber boots for the caliper end of the handbrake cables (the ones that cover the exposed section of cable)? Mine have split - I don't think they have let in water yet but I don't want to have to replace the cables when they go rusty just because of a s...

Re: BlueGT pulls right harshly under heavy braking
I must admit it is the first time I've used a pressure bleeding kit, I normally use pedal pressure and an assistant or a one-way valve. A mechanic friend of mine suggested it was because my car has the ABS unit, which causes extra restriction and would make it harder, which makes sense. That's an in...

Re: BlueGT pulls right harshly under heavy braking
Hi Cenkay, Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue, as I have just started having the same problem? I replaced all the brake fluid last night because it hadn't been done for a while and the brakes were feeling a bit weak and spongy. Now the brakes are a lot firmer and stronger, but this issue (...

Re: Instrument cluster problems - lights on/door open buzzer and airbag light
Fixed lights on/ door open buzzer - I got a second hand set of clocks on eBay, from a petrol Polo, anyway I managed to unsolder the buzzer from the PCB and solder it to my clocks. I think the reason the original buzzer stopped working was that my car had serious rain water leak issues (which I have ...

Re: Instrument cluster problems - lights on/door open buzzer and airbag light
I checked on eBay and saw there were some cables labelled VCDS KKL 409.1 OBD2 - is that the right one?

Not sure what VCDS is. Sorry about my ignorance.

Re: Instrument cluster problems - lights on/door open buzzer and airbag light
Thanks for the suggestion Alex, I will keep a look out for some cheap clocks. Any thoughts about the airbag light?

Re: Instrument cluster problems - lights on/door open buzzer and airbag light
Good news - I have fixed the Rev counter. I think I didn't attach the needle firmly enough, so I pressed it back on properly, now it works. Bad news - now my airbag light is staying on. I don't know if it is because I have dislodged some connector under the dash by pulling the clocks in and out seve...
