Thanks for the input.
It's funny that you should mention the drums, since I noticed both yesterday and today that there now seems to be a scoring sound coming from the rear brakes  . I'd be surprised if the shoes had worn out already, since I stripped the rears and replaced the shoes only ...

Diesel Front Brake Rebuild - Advice Please.
Hi Guys,
I know this is a diesel question, but probably a lot of principles and similar probelms will be the same. I gather that other have had similar experiences on petrol models.
My '98 1.9D CL had a bad judder under braking and I changed the disks (ATE Powerdiscs) & pads. That was good, then ...

Tail Light Bulb Question - Standard Clusters
Hi folks.
Has anyone used 10w bulbs for the rear lights instead of what I believe to be standard 5w? I ask because I have a large stock of 10w bulbs and have rune out of 5s. Surely they wouldn't look too much like brake lights - would they? I mean those are 21w and surely much brighter. And with ...

Nice one!......
.......however, Maybe I should point out that using the key (once the barrels have been defrosted) makes no difference. The button pops up, but no release function. Bugger!
Cheers for the suggestion. I'll have a look at the connections anyway.

Freezing Door Locks
Hi there,
I've had this trouble before, but it's becoming a real pain now. When it gets frosty for a decent spell, my FRONT door locks freeze up. I have the central locking operated by the alarm and the rear doors and tailgate open no problem.
The fronts however are solid and the handle doesn't ...

Thanks for that. Just to elaborate, my Polo is satin silver with clear indicators & repeaters. I have also done the grill with chrome strips which look the biz (pretty much like the newer model VWs). I reckon that if I can get ones that fit the recess of the front bumper, they'll look good.

Chrome Number plate surrounds.
Hi folks,
Has anyone got any particular recommendations for "Chrome" number plate surrounds. For example, which ones fit the MKiV particularly well with a standard plate. I was thinking of an even sized border all around as opposed to the ones with a design on a wider bottom edge.
I'm also wanting ...

Motorway Cruising speed
For that particular tankful, it may well have been 50/55 ish. However, more often on long runs it would be 65/70.
I'll admit it- I don't thrash my motors much these days, just now and again to clear it though (honest!)
Cheers.

Back on diesels......
I'm running an '98 1.9D CL on lots of short runs mostly. I can get some longer running at weekends. I return about 50+MPG just doing a handful of miles. That's a standard, non-turbo, low pressure injection etc, etc job!
The highest economy figure that I've had was 63MPG  whilst doing the ...
