joe6 wrote: Fri Aug 04, 2017 8:16 pm Unlikely, but are you sure they are all 17". Have you driven the car - suspension may need to settle after jacking?
I think this is most likely. Move it around a little to see if it sits properly then

Mine runs at about 103°C

Re: New GTI

I hope they do something about the god awful stereo as well. Be interesting to see if the GTi is released in November too. I think I read GTI would be early next year edit: the range topping turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder powered GTi model planned to see right-hand drive production early next...

Re: New GTI

It does look as if it will be nice in the flesh - and the extra boot space will be nice so I can get more than just 4 full 'bags for life' in there... It's basically the same size as a Mk4 Golf now so will also want to check it's not getting too big. We use the car mainly around town and the current...

Re: 6R into Aluminium Audi A2 !

The price of well kept low mileage original spec A2s is really taking off in the capital. It's only happened this year and oddly most of the customers are architects or designers. Is it a regional thing perhaps, the only architect I know in Penarth has a Volvo fixation, we are none of us perfect an...

Re: 6R into Aluminium Audi A2 !

I wish, PB you had been around to give me that advice 50 years ago! Had somebody convinced me back in the day I'd now be much richer, have spend fewer long cold nights in the garage, I may even have fewer grey hairs now. It's so easy to invest a lot of time and money only to end up with a car of du...

Re: 6R into Aluminium Audi A2 !

I think that the only sensible answer to this is to go back to the Audi engine and get that block professionally rebuilt if possible. In my mind it simply isn't worth trying what you are proposing to do even if you do not value your own time. You'll end up with an horrendous hybrid which no garage ...

Re: Polo 6C GTI- drinking oil

I'm assuming you know the oil level has to be checked when the engine is warm? See the handbook for what is needed if not sure

Re: GTi Tyres (again)

Yeah that's what I run. Weird. I like these Potenzas reference the Golf owners are they using the RE050 Potenza or the S001? Evening Joe - just catching back up with this thread. I think your use of the S001's at high speed and in corners makes the most of their rigid walls but most of us don't dri...

Re: GTi Tyres (again)

I'm only going off previous experience with Toyo's for the price they aren't bad I guess but I'd rather pay the premium to be honest but that's just me. For more grip than the Potenzas (which I'm unsure why you need more if it's just road use) you need to look at something like PS4s if they are in ...

Re: GTi Tyres (again)

Thank you both for taking the time to respond - even if your recommendations are at complete odds with each other :D I've got 4mm on the fronts at present after 16,700 miles, so have another few thou to go before having to make the change. I'll have a further look into the Toyo's before making the c...

Cheers Don. Any other observations on the Toyo e.g. handling, noise and wear?
