Re: New GTI
Just ordered my second GTI, my first being flat black with sport button poverty spec - I got the obligatory upgrade phone call this week, I thought I'd humour myself and go anyway expecting to be ripped off, I was in £2k neg eq on my PCP, but after some negotiating I managed to bag myself a stock 3d...

Re: New GTI
Well car was in again today for clock reset again, only this time they've managed to decode the keys and apparently their systems are down so I have a 1.0 tsi courtesy car, it's got a dsg box and my God does it shift for such a tiny motor. Actually astounded by how smooth it is

Re: New GTI
Wow, surely it'd be a lot cheaper for them to send it to a detailed? Failing that a respray of the damage is that bad? Saying that though as a paying customer you should expect the best.

Re: New GTI
After not seeing a fellow GTI owner where I live for 4 months today I see 3 in one journey. White 5dr, black 5dr and red 3dr in the Derby area, anyone on here?

Re: New GTI
Wasn't until today that I found out just how good the XDS system is, I nearly missed my exit on the dual carriage way, the turn off can only be described as a very sharp bend, that doubles back on itself, I've only really taken it at 30 tops, took it at 45, car didn't break a sweat, might as well ha...

Re: New GTI
I was told not to hammer it for the first 500 and then gradually boot it a bit more, though I understand most engines now-a-days are generally ok once they've warmed up and don't need as much care for the first few thousand as they once did.

Re: New GTI
I pose a question to those who already own a new GTI, turbo lag? Does it exist in that 1.8Tsi? No worse than any other turbo car I've driven, my old 207gti had a twin scroll to reduce turbo lag and the polo GTI turbo feels just as responsive. Nothing better than cracking the windows and planting yo...

Re: New GTI
Replacement engine arrived this afternoon, does anyone know if this will end up on the log book and affect future value? Kind of odd that my warranty work was due to be done today given that they already have the car, they say the brakes are fine (not sure how given they can't drive it!) instrument ...

Re: New GTI
Had my worst fears confirmed this morning, timing chain slipped significantly, engine completely ruined, bent and broken valves (some embedded in Pistons), economically unviable to repair it so a new engine has been ordered, not sure where they come from so no idea how long it will take. The tension...
