Re: Possible new GTI

It's easy to get £3K off the GTI without trying too hard.

Re: Strange Polo GTI Problem

Never known anything like that from mine in 8 months, 5K miles.

I do get a constant mild 'scraping' sound from the back brakes that can be heard at low speeds when you pull away. This does seem to be common for some owners and to me must be the pads trailing on the discs.

Re: Kenwood Sat nav upgrade

I did mine ok from PocketGPS (although you have to leave the card in the SD slot on the Kenwood unit).

I'll have a go at updating mine tomorrow and record each step so I can report back.

Re: New GTI

Unless the manufacturer attested to covering any warranty claim if VW didn't pay because of the box, wouldnt even bother touching it! Blown turbo and imagine them checking the logs and refusing to cover, what would you do? Take them to court? Even in court it would be fairly obvious with historical ...

Re: New GTI

I swapped my ST and in terms of looks and refinement the polo gti wins this hands down, in terms of handing the ST is a lot more fun in terms of back end being thrown out and the feedback from the wheels is better, but on the track actually isn't as good as the polo in terms of track time and 0-60 ...

Re: New GTI

Is the sport button the new version of go faster stripes?? In fairness it does firm up the suspension and any car with good suspension will go at a good rate of knots over something overpowered with poor wallowing cornering.

Re: New GTI

Just got back from having my gti on a rolling road

I have to say that the sport button changes very little on the graph.

But on the other hand I think it made decent power which I'll compare to what Apr got on their rollers once the release the map they have.

As I'm aware, the Sports button ...

Re: Kenwood Sat nav upgrade

Yes all other functionality remains the same. You can listen to any sound source whilst you view the Nav. The parking display works just fine and auto switches between Nav and park as needed.

I guess both boxes could be mounted under the glovebox but you only need one to access the SD card. Not ...

Re: New GTI

Anyone else running with dash cams by the way? Ordered one today Nextbase 101 with a wiring kit so I can run it through fuse box.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Got an 806 stuck behind the mirror. Works fine and you can't see it from the drivers seat.

Mine was about 3 weeks from build to collection - but that stage didn't show on my tracker went straight from confirmed to in transit so I can't say for definite :)

Re: Kenwood Sat nav upgrade

I used an old 2GB card that I had lying around. The file size is only a Meg or two.

I got them to fit the unit under the glove box (it's still hidden from view) and then I inserted the card afterwards. Plus of course I can update it if and when I'm inclined.

Re: Kenwood Sat nav upgrade

I've had the Kenwood/ Garmin upgrade fitted for 3 months now.

It works well, but of course provides no more functionality than a £80 Garmin Satnav. However to me it was worth it to have it built in.

I did get a £50 discount thus had it installed for £550. I could have done it myself and bought ...

Re: New GTI

I've now done 1,500 miles in the first month (on 5000 a year PCP lol ! )

I've had most of the issues, but they seem only like 'growing pains'.

The brakes squealed for one night only, the CMS failed only twice in the first 2 days. The squeezing under the steering wheel only happens for a few ...

Re: New GTI

Bearing in mind the £15,999 Euro spec GTI does include cruise control, climate control, arm rest and parking sensors as standard. If it had the LED lights then it would be the bargain of the century.
Reckon these will sell quickly though as people simply won't want to wait 3-6 months longer for a ...

Re: New GTI

Some good savings there to be fair.

Good savings, but you can still do better from a main dealer if you take VW finance and get the deposit contribution.

I managed a discount of over £3k on mine (see Drivethedeal)

However these at Motorpoint are sat there waiting for delivery, so no months of ...
