I had the warning light on and the reason turned out to be the EGR valve .

Had it replaced (for not so reasonable price of 310€ (50€ for diagnostics and 260€ for the valve + work) and avot, works like a clock.

P.S. Depending on the reason, it might not be so dangerous to keep driving even ...

Does it really matter how you measure it?

The motor vehicle inspector around here measure it from the center of the wheel to the arch at the vehicle inspection.

You do just that, don´t overdo your modding, it´s a nice car, you shouldn´t spoil it!

P.S. Hope yours doesn´t burn oil like mine. Gotta do something about it soon.

My 1.4 16V actually started burning oil after the first service at 27500km and now just waiting for the oil light to turn on all the time ;-)

Im also looking for an exhaust with the same sort of criteria for my 1.4 16v, but i also want it to look OEM and neatly fitted... Hmm. what´s the point if you want it look OEM? I guess you gotta have bigger pipes for better noise, don´t you agree? Othervise just drill some holes...

Yes, Sportline springs with Pro-damper dampers = Sport-System!

The max. lowering is 45-50mm (front) and I do have to admit that during wintertime that´s a bit too much. Guess you don´t have as much snow as we do so... ;-)

Sorry to hear your not quite satisfied with your car. I´ve driven about 27000km with my 2004 model Polo and no problems. Okey some squeeks from the dashboard in winter, but it´s freezing here so that´s understandable. Something wrong with the rear wiper but I don´t use it so who cares.

I have GY Eagle Ventura 205/45-16 in summer time and Nokian Hakkapeliitta 1 185/60-14 in winter time (probably you´ve never heard of those?)

How about side airbags? Here in Finland one cannot change front seats because it´s not allowed to "downgrade" oem safety equipment.

Seats with side airbags it a whole new story, but I guess those are too expensive so nobody really does that.

GaryUK; I am under the impression that some of the 9N cars are made in spain and some in Slovakia (and finished in Germany, like mine). One should not blaim the workers but the people who should take care of the quality, right?

No rattles and squeeks in mine, so I shoudn´t care too much.

So you don´t have LL service system (LongLife) in Australia but the "old" 1 year or 15000km system? Here in Finland all VW vehicles have LL service system which is 2 years or 30000km. All cars have service indicator so the car tells you when it should be taken to service.
