Re: O2 Sensor wiring
Hi Able. For that fault I would expect to see a VCDS code, maybe PO135 or P0141 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 1, which is the one screwed into the exhaust manifold, or 2 (if fitted) after the cat. I think the heater supply is under ECU control and switched through a relay, maybe by connecting ...

Re: What is this hose called?
Hi. That's a crankcase breather hose. It shouldn't matter if it's soft, as long as it's not leaking or clogged up or collapsing in on itself..

I am sure you will have sorted it by now, but for others, Just Google it. There are quite a few from ebay and Autodoc. Beware of confusion with the 6N1 regulator which is identical apart from a different winder handle fitting.

Re: Rear brake shoe hold down spring washers
Again I'll answer my own question to maybe help others. The answer is Lockheed type. Girling have a smaller slot and a less dished shape.

Re: Auxilliary belt
I'm answering my own in case it helps others. After further research, the correct belt is 6PK1070 or a QH belt QBR61075 (5mm longer) will also fit.

Rear brake shoe hold down spring washers
Hi Folks. The washers/caps that the pins through the hold down springs latch into are almost rusted through (the ones you turn 90 degrees to remove). Ebay sellers give a choice. Do I need Girling type or Lockheed?

Auxilliary belt
Hi Folks. I need an auxiliary belt for a 1.0 with power steering and no aircon. I think it should be a 6PK1070 (that is, 6 rib 1070mm long) but some ebay sellers tell me it should be a 6PK750.
Which is correct?
Thanks.

Re: Stiff gear selection
Changing gear was stiff on my 6N2 when I first bought it, with 1st gear particularly hard to select. The linkage all looked dry, so I blasted every joint from the stick to the gearbox with aerosol synthetic grease. That sorted it out, and gear change is still fine 7 years later. Worth a try before y...

New E10 fuel compatibility 1.0 MPI engine
I see that E10 (10% ethanol) petrol will be the new standard, taking over from E5 (5%) from tomorrow here in England. I have a 6N2 with a 1.0 MPI engine. 6N2's seem to be too old to be on the compatibility lists I have seen. Is it compatible? Or does anyone have experience of using this fuel in thes...

Re: Rear brake slave cylinder replacement
Thanks for the replies. I haven't done the job yet - waiting till I have the time and the weather. I have done this job on other cars where it was possible to just undo the connections and bolts, push in the pistons and take the cylinder out. I never like disturbing brake springs. They always seem t...

Rear brake slave cylinder replacement
I noticed some fluid leakage while checking the brake shoe wear.
Can someone confirm that the cylinder can be replaced without removing the shoes and springs etc.
Any other tips welcome too!
Thanks.

Re: Total loss of electrical power while driving
Hi grehansc
Thanks for reporting back.
For my records, exactly which connection was loose? I have the same 6N2 and may be unlucky enough to encounter the same problem some day!

Re: Total loss of electrical power while driving
#grehansc Hmm... At the risk of Grandmother/eggs: From experience, my 6N2 1.0 (like many other cars) will drive either with a charged battery and a non-working alternator, or (after starting) with a working alternator and no battery connected, so to me, that sudden failure at 30MPH seems to confirm ...
