Re: first car

Also bear in mind that if you were to modify your car, you need to declare the modifications to your insurer, and they may charge you an increased premium. As this is your first car, I'm assuming you are a young driver (apologies for making assumptions about your age!), so insurance is probably alre...

Re: RE: Re: New GTI

Gave my GTI a good clean, decontamination and wax over the last couple of days. Dealer prep prior to picking it up on 1st March was OK-ish but not not brilliant. I'm happy with it now. A few pictures; Looks cracking m8, yeah dealers prep leaves a lot to be desired. Mine has fair few swirls, got lot...

Re: Polo GTi or GT

Excessive oil consumption has also been an issue with many of the 1.4 twin charged engines in the 6R GTI. Check out the 'Are You Using Oil?' and '6R GTI 1.4 Oil Usage Poll' threads in this (the 6R / 6C) section of the forum.

Re: New GTI tyres

I have Bridgestones on mine. Some of the nearly new / ex-demos that are for sale on the VW website have Continentals, but the vast majority have Bridgestones.

Re: New GTI

Had my worst fears confirmed this morning, timing chain slipped significantly, engine completely ruined, bent and broken valves (some embedded in Pistons), economically unviable to repair it so a new engine has been ordered, not sure where they come from so no idea how long it will take. The tensio...

Re: Newbie! Paintwork question

How deep are the scuff marks Emma? If they're not deep enough to feel with your finger nail, then it should be possible to polish them out. You'll get the best results with a dual action or rotary machine polisher, if you know someone that has one, or if not a professional car detailer should be abl...

Re: New GTI

Picked up my GTI today :D. Lovin' it, although I was sorry to see my mk6 Golf GTD go as it's been a great car. Today's miserable weather wasn't the best for picking up a new car though, and it already needs a good clean. I've driven it about 50 miles so far. Initial impressions; it seems pretty well...

Must be the only one to have the different alloys, intruiged to see how they look I'm also having Serron alloys on mine. Didn't fancy cleaning all those spokes on the standard Parabolica alloys! Re: Ice on inside of windscreen - VW design flaw or fault?

+1 for leaving air con on 24 / 7. I do this in my GTD golf and have never had any problems with ice or serious condensation on the inside of the screen in the 4 and a half years I've owned it. I'll be leaving the air con on permanently in my Polo GTI too when I get it.

Re: New GTI

Absolutely gob smacked and heartbroken that a tyre fitter could be so careless, I have this gouge running around a third of the wheel, refurb required, it's going back and they will fix it I make sure of that. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160211/2c5e911509180fdebb9b9f28896dbd49.jpg Sent from m...
