Re: 1.0 Not running, water in fuel?

No I havent. There are 2 thin tubes that push into the underside of the airbox. Don't know what either of them do but the one that runs to the front is split where it pushes onto whatever it is. The one that runs back sucks like a dentists vacuum when pulled off the airbox, however it doesn't seem t...

Re: 1.0 Not running, water in fuel?

Just a thought, The tank pump runs for a couple of seconds on switch on, I can hear it. Does it then run on demand when the engine is running? Can't say I've noticed it. When the engine conks it seems to start again after a few runs of the pump. Fuel pressure? I'm trying to find a 'good' mechanic. E...

Re: 1.0 Not running, water in fuel?

It's due plugs & leads anyway. I could do that first as a matter of course. But I can see me limping it round to the garage.
Do these look right?

Re: 1.0 Not running, water in fuel?

Thanks Alex, plugs ordered. Pulled supply off fuel manifold and filled a Coke bottle by flicking the key on & off. Fuel looks fine and comes through quick enough. Puff of ES and it started onto tickover and idled until warm. However when up to temp it was missing a bit and when I sat blipping th...

1.0 Not running, water in fuel?

Just what I need, Arosa has sat for a couple of weeks or so out in the weather, then wouldn't go. The whole engine bay seemed really wet so I stripped out the HT set & plugs, dried everything in a warm place, sprayed it up and it did finally go but then a mile down the road splutters coughs and ...

Re: Freeze release spray experience

I remember those cans of freeze spray from my electronics days (CMOS etc.)
Wondered why I couldn't find it on Ebay, has it been banned then?

Freeze release spray experience

Thought I would share a bit of experience gained, that's why we go on these things yes? Had a caliper with a rotted in bleed nipple which resisted all the usual spray & leave to soak, so read up on various freeze/release sprays and tried it out. Stripped caliper down, cleaned it up a bit, put it...

Re: QUINTON HAZELL Front Wheel Bearing Kit QWB512

Probably obvious to a pro and I should have thought of it before.
2' of 1" square bar clamped to the underside of the wishbone with a 2" G-clamp.
With my boot on the end it pushed the wishbone down far enough to allow proper line up of the ball joint stud.
Easy
Chinese wheel bearings fitted.

Re: QUINTON HAZELL Front Wheel Bearing Kit QWB512

I probably couldn't if I had one. What I need is to improv. this: eBay item number: 201543790453 GARAGE TOOL PUSH DOWN SUSPENSION QUALITY PRODUCT SUPPLIED BY CLARKSON TOOLS · The wishbone extractor tool is for pushing down the wishbone and other suspension parts for example during the disassembly of...

Re: QUINTON HAZELL Front Wheel Bearing Kit QWB512

Not quite with you. Once the taper was released I had a big tyre lever in there to open it up but it went so far then the stud went sideways jammed up and started to munch the thread. I remember doing this on a 405 with a big tube through the lower wishbone and someone standing on the tube to force ...

Re: QUINTON HAZELL Front Wheel Bearing Kit QWB512

Well, the chinese bearings are pressed in.
Is there a trick to getting the bottom of the strut off and back on the ball joint stud, struggled for ages last night.

Re: QUINTON HAZELL Front Wheel Bearing Kit QWB512

Update,
I had ordered the QH bearings before Alex managed to reply.
The QH bearings have arrived and are not brand marked so could be anything.

I'm sure if they are fitted straight they'll outlast the car anyway.
