Gearbox no 5th
I've lost 5th gear, I first thought gear linkage which is a bit worn so tried to select 5th from under the car with the linkage removed, you can bring the clutch all the way back up and it doesn't bite. I'm thinking either gearbox is dead or just 5th. The box is an etd. I have another gearbox but it...

Polo Avy crankshaft oil seal position
I bought an avy engine to change in my partners 6n2 Gti which currently has an Arc engine fitted. Getting the lump ready I noticed the crankshaft oil seal housing (transmission end) was broken where the crank position sensor sits. I removed it to find the sensor wheel comes off. I'm not sure if it c...

Driveshaft to gearbox
6n2 gti driveshaft problems. So today the nearside inner cv joint broke, I've got another from a local parts place. The new cv joint won't fit into the cup on the gearbox and the body of the unit is slight larger. The car is a 1.6 arc with a etd box installed, is the gearbox causing me the problem I...

Re: Arc 1.6 16v oil consumption / compression test
I did notice before taking the spark plugs out there was oil around the tops. It was the same when I changed the spark plugs a couple of months ago. Spark plugs in order.. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g56/DJMISFIT1/Polo%20gti/20160902_152144.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g56/DJMISFIT1/P...

Gti wondering rear
The rear end of the car has started to wonder it seems most apparent after hitting bumps in the road and on cornering. I'm thinking it could be the rear top mounts or beam mounts. I replaced everything on the front end a few months back.
Any ideas or pointers ?

Arc 1.6 16v oil consumption / compression test
My partners 6n2 2000 gti is using about 1.5 liters of oil a week ( 300- 500 miles ). There's no oil patch where she parks, I cant find any visible leaks and no visible smoke. I fitted a new oil crankcase box and cda type filter when I got the car back on the road for her a few months ago. The old ai...

Re: Help Please! smoke from car!
I got the car back on the road for my partner, it was using oil before changing the standard filter for a cda type. The standard filter I removed was soaked in oil and the breather pipe was collapsing. Been trying to Google this problem for quite a while now, everyone seems to have very similar prob...

No visible leaks on the floor but using alot of oil, I recently cleaned the crankcase breather out aswell I used brake cleaner and petrol! I haven...
