I know it was a long shot, but worth the punt. Will have a play with vagcom, but not an expert user of it so kinda stabbing in the dark.
FYI - fitting a new middle and back box, clear DTCs.
Run the Polo, see if it comes back.
Failing that, a new sensor downstream of the catalyst ...

Ross-Tech suggest the below.

Did sort it out, took out the trim bit where the rear seat belt goes through/where the parcel shelf sits. The actuator for the flap lives there. Took the actuator out, problem solved for the meantime.

2002 1.2 SE four door....is there a common water ingress problem, as when the Mrs's polo is most of the time condensing on all windows after being left for a while after driving.

OK. Done a vagcom scan....nothing relevent, BUT, its a starter motor issue.....I think.

Brief summery....
No issues before today. New battery. 1.2L 3 pot 2002. Misses now at work as I got it going at 5am.
Will Vagcom it if/when shes back.

Cheers guys for the replies. Took your advice and researched a fair few other routes, all to no avail.
Only option is to take the polo to VW themselves and hand over £15 for the code.
Ah well! Convinced the misses to go for a new head unit......lots of bloody choices though.

Replaced the battery and the head unit is in SAFE mode.......
Got access to VAGCOM and before I start messing just wondering if anyone has done this or is it possible through VAGCOM?
