Re: Slowly losing coolant
The dirty coolant tank may be an indication of head gasket problem as on my 2010 car the tank is still clean. Water pumps are known to start leaking and could cause the symptoms with a slow leak - usually starts after cam belt replacement.

Why not make it a requirement before you purchase?

Re: 1.0tsi (95bhp) MPG
My daughter's Leon 1.4 with 150bhp never seems to drop below 40mpg even in stop start traffic. Seems that VW have got power to weight ratio totally wrong with the 1.0 polo. I do better in my 2016 GTI most of the time than figures quoted in this thread (between 36 and 44mpg) much the same as the mk6 ...

Re: 2016 GTI Oil
Ah, this has just brought great memories of Duckhams Q 20W-50 mineral oil, it looked good(if you like green),smelled good and felt good(as you rubbed it between your fingers), pity it was so thick that it took a while to get to the important places though. - Ah memories!! A bit of Castrol R in the ...

Re: 2016 GTI Oil
Got 5l of Castrol 5w30 pro longlife 3 recently for £30 as a part of a warehouse clearance so it is probably being phased out. The polo handbook says to check the oil level with the engine warm. I change oil and filter every 6 months as I do quite a lot of short trips.

Re: Adding an intercooler on the newer vw TSI engines?
Reducing the intake temp by a couple of degrees will sometimes give you an extra few horses by, for example, moving the air intake but remember as you point out a longer intake pipe run will reduce the airflow and boost pressure and so negate the temperature drop. An increase in the pipe size may he...

Re: Window steaming up?
Not had this problem in 2 years of ownership. Always have the fan on low, do not normally use the recirculating option and rarely us the aircon. My thinking is that moisture will build up just through breathing so a throughput of air is necessary to remove this. Could always try giving up breathing ...

Mk10 GTI v Mini S
Interesting comparison this week on fifth gear (on Quest channel) between the Polo GTI and Mini S timed on the a circuit. GTI came out tops. Commentator comment - VW have produced a Polo worthy of the GTI badge.

Suggest you do a search on this forum - 1.4 TDI and look at the 6c results. It will give you some idea of any recurring faults. It will give you each response to an initial query so there will be a lot to sift through.

Re: Could someone advice me on how I could get this sorted on bumper
If it is back to the black plastic on the bumper then it will require a clear primer coat for plastic over the damaged area and then paint primer, colour coat and then clear lacquer. If you don't feel confident to DIY, then get quotes from a couple of paint shops and or mobile paint companies but ma...

Re: Buying a gti advice
I was probably lucky. I had a twin charger in a 2011 Scirocco that I tuned to stage 1. I ran it in carefully for the first 3k miles, gave it oil and filter changes every 6 months changed the plug gap from VW spec and had no problems in 50k of motoring. Quite a few did have problems and that includin...

Re: Inspection message MFD
From the dates you have listed, I think that the garage at the last service forgot to reset the service interval in July 2018 and the car is 'remembering' the service complete in Oct 2017.

Re: VW extended warranty
I took out the VW manufacturer extended warranty from new on the Polo for about £450 - for the extra 2 years as it seemed worthwhile at the time as even if I don't keep it for the full 5 years it will enhance the attractiveness when for sale. Got caught out with the Golf GTI but managed the repairs ...

MY2016 recall?
I have a 1.8 GTI (2016). Just booked in for a service and was told that there needs to be an 'adjustment' to the rear of the car related to the tow bar fitment. The booking clerk could not enlighten me further!! Anyone had this done and what it involved. Thanks.
