Re: 2016 VW Polo 1.2 TSI fails first MOT on CO2 emissions

Recently had an MOT on my Golf GTI (MY2010). The printout was the same layout as the one you got from the dealers. Carbon dioxide is not measured. As shown on yours, the tests are for carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC). Does your MOT printout include the software release used by the garage a...

Re: How chipped is your paintwork?

I have a white 6C and one reason for the choice is the ability to touch up chips and get a good colour match easily. Generally solid colours are easier DIY for a good colour match than metallic. Had a red Scirocco and that was also relatively easy DIY. I generally use original T Cut to blend old and...

Re: Another Safety Recall...

Yes agree it is a bit extreme but suffered in the past from issues in a Golf and Scirocco just outside of the warranty that were manufacturing defects that VW new about but unwilling to accept and so no good will. The advantage of my strategy is fewer problems and bigger discounts.

Re: What would you change about your Polo?

Being a bit contentious as I currently do not have the latest version but I would like to see the boot lid redesigned with rear lights similar to the golf with two parts - one part on the boot lid and the other in the rear wing. Currently think it is a bit bland. Now waiting for the flack!!

Re: Another Safety Recall...

I think VAG customers need to accept that new models out will have defects because there is insufficient testing by this manufacturer and this has been ongoing for about the last about 10 years. These days I wait for the model to be manufactured for 3 years so that the poor early customers complete ...

Re: Wow! A proper hot hatch

I can just (40 years ago!!) remember test driving a MK1 GTI in Germany in 1979 in 5 speed manual form and yes WOW but could not afford it and in any case had a young family to transport. Ended up with a XR3i EFI ....eventually with 105bhp that was similar to the original MK1 GTI but heavier so 0-60...

Re: Removing Black Box

My step daughter's car had a black box which was attached to the top of the battery. When she switched insurers they said they don't remove them as they are effectively disposable. It remains on there to the current day. And I believe continues to record the driving standards!! Still come the new E...

Re: New GTI + delivery

Sometimes air circulates if there is a significant difference in temperature between outside and inside if the vents are left open which sets it off but only heard this happening in the summer. Could try turning off the internal sensor to see if it continues to happen?

Should not be a problem even if it uses Bluetooth as the frequencies are different.

Re: 6R GTI Misfire detected

Could be a number of things. Ross Tech site for the error code is not very helpful as the list is long and general and suggests: Wiring/Connector(s). Ignition system. Fuel injectors. Fuel pressure. Running out of fuel. EVAP canister purge valve. Evaporative emission system. Low compression. Since it...

Can't find any consistent info.
If you want one you can have mine - had it for nearly 3 years but never used! Find VCDS much more useful :)
