Re: Bulbs for 6C GTI LED UNIT

I think you would have to replace the complete headlight unit if you currently have LED headlights. Around £500 per unit I believe :(

Re: Rear Badge Removal 6R

Use some thin thread or fishing line to cut through the tabs (don't try to lever the badges off !!)

I've had mine removed completely, then the tailgate machine polished to hide any witness marks

Re: new member

My front bearings have started rumbling after only 20,000 miles gentle driving. Only possible cause (other than rubbish bearings) is that the car is parked on a sloping driveway (nose down); during the worst of Covid the car was only moved once a week.

Re: "low Battery" message.

My 2016 R-Line is doing the same due to lack of use. Message on dashboard says 'charge battery by driving', which I do and the message goes away for another few weeks. Just a symptom of lack of use. I wouldn't panic buy a battery just yet.

Re: Efficiency Below Threshold - o2 sensor?

That car has run many miles/kms so maybe it is just a failed cat. ... or failed sensor, as happened to my 1.2Tsi recently. It drove fine with the Engine Management light illuminated, but was using 20% more petrol than normal (demonstrating how the feedback from the sensors influences fuel mix). VW ...

Re: Consumption gone from 60mpg to 45mpg

Dodgy O2 sensors? The pre and post cat O2 (lambda) sensors control fuel mixture and can result in an increase in fuel usage of around 20% if faulty. However, if one had failed, the engine management warning light should have come on. Only replace if you need to; they cost £140 each plus fitting!! Bl...

Re: Coins fallen into demister

2p coin can be lifted with a magnet; just checked. So this looks like the route to take. Good luck !!

Attach a very small disc magnet with sticky tape to something slightly flexible (a straw or stiff wire?) so you can manoeuvre.

Re: Rear Badge Removal

They are held with adhesive. Fine nylon monofilament line slid behind each letter will do the trick (a bit like using dental floss). You might even get away with using dental floss. Then you'll need to remove the residual adhesive and possibly do some detailing on the paintwork to remove any 'shadow...

No, never took it back. It doesn't affect my ability to reverse the car or spoil my enjoyment of ownership.

Re: Tight gearbox

My 2016 1.2 Tsi often struggles to go into reverse, but I find that if I lift the clutch pedal with the gear lever at the point it got stuck, then the gear finds its way into mesh without any grinding noises (and the gear lever moves that last 5mm on its own).

Re: Dry Dipstick - How much Oil do you get through?

... in position 1 I see the battery, engine warning lights and EPC, they all disappear though when I start the car. Is that normal? Yes, that's normal. Check the oil level now the car's been idle for some time. If the oil is clean it can be difficult to see on the dipstick; make sure you look caref...

Re: Dry Dipstick - How much Oil do you get through?

Voltage can drop to 11.5V when engine is off.

The fact you are seeing 14.5V is good and indicates the battery is getting some charge. 👍

Oh. And make sure the car is on a level, not sloping surface, when checking the oil otherwise the dipstick reading will be totally inaccurate. 😉

Re: Dry Dipstick - How much Oil do you get through?

You’re not having much good luck lately !! Hopefully things will now turn for the better. Get someone to check that the battery is getting charge. Not sure whether somewhere like Halfords or an auto centre will do a free check (maybe the same place where you purchased the battery). If the battery is...

Re: Dry Dipstick - How much Oil do you get through?

I would suggest you check again after the engine has been stopped for a while, then you'll be in a better position to ascertain oil level. Might be worth getting someone to check that the new battery is receiving charge from the alternator (just to be 100% sure that it was the battery that had faile...
