I don't own a 6R GTi, mine is a 2011 1.6 SEL. The car has 140,000 miles on the clock and has had two timing belt changes, the first at around 46,000 (in 2012) and the last one at around 139,000 this year. Didn't check things immediately, it was only later when I needed to drive, the remote central locking wasn't working. I reversed the changes and started again. Auto locking now works, however, I do not want to make any more changes until the remote central locking is working again.

Mine will more than likely get binned! Central locking not working, now got incorrect key programming error 01179. Not amused at all.

Update: At least the auto locking works

Received mine yesterday. Tried to enable auto locking of doors over 15mph and now my central locking from key fob is not working on either of my keys - coincidence? Auto locking of doors not working either.

Same thing happens with mine especially when it's cold in the morning, lights dim momentarily, but has stopped by the time I arrive at work. It's nothing that really concerns me at the moment.

It was a lease car until I bought it in March this year (2016). VW history, cambelt changed at around 46k and looked after well. I've had a rear brake caliper replaced as well as the disks and pads.
