Re: Start/Stop

I think that I have now understood what I thought should happen is wrong as DSG is an automated manual gearbox so it does not have a fluid flywheel, which is the part that tolerates being in drive at idle with handbrake on and not fighting to move. Edit:- my wife has a manual gearbox car and I've f...

Re: How does the service desk set up work, I'm just curious!

Not sure if you remember my rant a while ago when trying to get the squeaky breaks on my car fixed, no matter how many times you told them the problem it never seemed to make it from one person to another, so annoyingly I know exactly how you feel! I have to say they were brilliant when it came to s...

Re: How does the service desk set up work, I'm just curious!

RUM4MO if I remember correctly you use Western at the Fort? If so I'm surprised you even managed to see them! Every time I call and ask to get put through to servicing nobody ever answers and the reception desk always claim "they are busy with another customer", honestly more chance of spe...

Re: Which Remap is best?

I would normally not be too fussed over the warranty, but just concerned as the car is PCP and will be traded into the garage next year, but seeing as I'm planning to hand it over to BMW I'm starting to think who cares?! Not like they'll know. Looking at both again, the costs and the reviews APR and...

Re: Which Remap is best?

For me it would be an Apr map. Had one on my old 9n3 gti and it was great. If I was not going the whole hog I'd get whatever is required for the Apr stage 2 map and leave it there. APRs software does look to give the best performance once fitted, but then is also by far the most expensive! Really u...

Which Remap is best?

Since looking at DasSantos thread regarding his REVO stage 1 ECU remap, I have myself now been looking at getting one for my car. I am still new to this but have done a considerate amount of research and now hope that some people on here might be able to help out with some suggestions for who they t...

Re: Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator

I've never had an issue with my indicator, my car is a 2016 model so I don't see how a car that is only two years older should have this fault as 'standard?'? My indicator has lit up twice, once when I hit a pothole and got an instant puncture, and another time when I was on the motorway and a screw...

Re: Polo GTI 6C 1.8 TSI (2016) Revo Stage 1?

@DasSantos Now that you have had it fitted for a little while would you recommend it? I've been looking at all the different companies so will probably start a contentious thread over the next few days when I've got prices to see who is best.

Re: Polo GTI 6C 1.8 TSI (2016) Revo Stage 1?

Yes More places actually offer to map the manual over the dsg due to the limitations of the dsg box. I highly doubt you will gain fuel economy after a map. Ah cool, thanks! I've always wondered how a remap could change the MPG, is it more likely to make it worst or just stay the same? That's probab...

Re: Polo GTI 6C 1.8 TSI (2016) Revo Stage 1?

I'm not sure if this is a silly question as I have only started looking into a remap (I heard its a way to boost performance and the MPG which sounds like a win win?!) but can the remap be performed on a manual? Everywhere I have seen it is always on the DSG model?

Re: Contentious topic - which petrol are you using?

I always use Tesco Momentum as well (the 99 ron stuff), the GTI tells you only to use premium fuels, I have no idea if it does offer any benefit as its only ever been filled with premium but the car always runs perfect. Not even that much extra than the normal stuff and gets you more clubcard point...

Re: OEM cruise control.

The cruise control will only disconnect if either the brake pedal is pushed or the cruise control on/off button is pressed. The system allows for you to change gear when the cruise control is on, so pressing the clutch will not disconnect it. By the sounds of it your cruise control is working exactl...
