Re: Turbo

Yes there are 3 x OEM turbos for the EA888 3rd gen motors all made by IHI. The IS12 is the sole 1.8 turbocharger regardless of output. Its efficient and offers low lag but obviously limits maximum output. The IS20 turbo from the 2.0 220/230/245hp motors is a direct bolt on, as is the IS38 from the h...

Re: PCP trade in - anyone done it yet?

Kinda depends how long you took the PCP over and how much you put down TBH. If you put a modest deposit down and are nearly 2 years in Id suggest you are probably getting close to break even...perhaps even have a little money in the car. I think my car (May 2015 Pure White 3 door manual, 40k miles, ...

Re: 2018 Polo NEW SHAPE

My biggest disappointments with the GTI are definitely no 3 door option but mainly power output. 189 v 197hp and probably not huge weight difference to 6C.....performance wise there will be little or nothing in it. The 1.8 is typically received as being a sweeter, revvier unit than the 2.0..also I ...

Also doubt the wiring is there for heated seats, would have to be added.

Re: Silly Question.. GTI polo.. do we get one

I know what you mean....my wife had a 2003 Ibiza 130 PD Sport when we first got together....bar the slightly shoddy build quality and electrics absolutely loved the thing. I still miss it now and was as fun and fast as the 150 CDTi Astra SRi XP I had myself at the time. That engine in a car so small...

Re: VW authorised Tuners

Tuning box wont raise the flag as is doesnt physically change anything on the ECU programming on the car, only intercepts and manipulates signals to increase fuel rail pressure, boost pressure, camshaft phase and some will influence AFR too. Theres often the view that boxes are 2nd rate compared to ...

Re: VW authorised Tuners

No such thing in the UK, any remap will invalidate the VW warranty. Some dealers did once upon a time (and may still do) sell Revo maps, but they werent affiliated with VW....I think the garages likely offered some limited warranty or would cloak and dagger make sure warranty issues would get addres...

Re: GTI

Yeah the 6C is worth the stretch as unarguably its the better car of the two. VW made quite a bit of effort with the C to ensure it was better received than the R...the engine and standard manual transmission are what ensured that. There is a place in my heart for the 180hp twincharger, but the EA88...

Re: Rev Hanging ??

Agreed its most noticable going 1st to 2nd I find...once on the move its fine. Also to drive it smoothly (sedately) in the lower gears you cant rush the changes as you do get a bit of driveline shunt otherwise. That said its fine and doesnt do it if you rag it from standstill. Again its just much th...

Re: A click noise when getting moving

I know there is a magnetic clutch unit which controls the bringing in and out of the supercharger on those cars, used to hear it on my Fabia vRS. Could be that?

Re: Doors Rattling

I have a rattle eminating from the top corner of the door trim where it meets the rear of the door towards b pillar. Any bass through the speakers tends to reveal it. Tis a 3 door by the way. Its like something is lose in there or that the trim is vibratinf against something metallic. Asked the deal...

Re: Polo 6c gti retrofit parking sensors

Its possible but not going to be cheap to do. You need the official sensors, buzzer, wiring loom, PDC controller (and associated wiring - believe the controller likely has to be wired into the cars BCM) then the requisite coding to enable the optical parking system on the infotainment. Also you woul...

Re: Rev Hanging ??

I have a 15 GTi manual too and cant say Ive really noticed this. I wouldnt say the revs drop very quickly when stepping off the clutch...particularly if its been revved out but certainly the revs dont increase..sounds a little odd. They arent particularly smooth at low speeds when stepping on and of...
