Re: 1.2 Tsi oil capacity?

Yes, just checked the back-cover of that Haynes. Petrol models covered in that manual are 1.2 litre 3-cyl and 1.4 litre non-turbos.

Re: 1.2 Tsi oil capacity?

Wed morning. To the delight of Slider09 (heh, heh, heh!), I'm extending my answer further. I've now checked the amount left in the container, in my case, and it's 1.4 litres. That's for a 5-litre container, so that means that I put in 3.6 litres, altogether. That 3.6 includes the amount that ends up...

Re: 1.2 Tsi oil capacity?

A good question but not one with a straightforward answer, I think you'll find. A new car, or even one bought secondhand, will always come with engine oil already in it and so, without officially produced data (which, for my CJZC 1.2 engine, I myself have certainly never seen), it becomes tricky to ...

How should I check the alignment of my headlights?

Haven't had to do this for many, many years, so am somewhat 'rusty' on what the rules currently are. Okay, I know that this can only best be done with specialist optical kit as used by MOT stations and dealer workshops, but I merely want to ensure that when my first MOT with this Polo becomes due, t...

Re: Car Keyed !!

Awh, that's just terrible. I empathise wholeheartedly. I once had one of my pride-and-joys broken into and wrecked, despite me having parked it in a trustworthy precinct. Under cover of an early winter evening and with few people around, the ba****d(s) found they couldn't overcome the door locks fro...

Re: Retrofit Seats!

samhall15, SRGTD raises some good points. However, my experience is that exaggerated bolstering around the edges of the seat do little or nothing for backpain. Yes, you do need a modicum of bolstering just to keep yourself from jiggling about too much on the Polo's rather jelly-like suspension, but ...

Re: Retrofit Seats!

samhall15, My Polo's a 2017 TSI Match, and your existing seats are almost certainly the same as mine. Given my issues with congenital backpain (spinal arthritis), when I bought my Match I didn't find any other offering from VW, in the way of seats, that was at all worthwhile, so I stuck with the sto...

Yeh, the reason is that the sump's become the cylinder-head, and the cyinder-head's become the sump. Heh, heh, heh!

Re: Tight gearbox

Casbantam, I'm very disappoinrted to hear that they've not fixed the problem. As far as your warranty situation's concerned, I think you've a good case for insisting that they find and fix the problem once-and-for-all and that you incur no costs yourself. Quite clearly, at present the vehicle is all...

Re: Tight gearbox

If, from the video, your interpretation of "the springs" is that they look more like a "roundel of flat fingers", then what the technicians are referring to is the central area of the clutch's driven coverplate, sometimes simply called the clutch cover. The disc-like friction plate, on the other han...

Re: Tight gearbox

Yes, but you'd think surely that if that was the case I'd be experiencing constant drag and/or getting-into-a-different-gear problems, as per Casbantam. But I don't get any of that. And further, there's no clank heard whenever the engine isn't turning, ie. when the ignition's turned completely off. ...

Re: Tight gearbox

Casbantam, I too have a TSI Match 1.2 (2017) and although I've had no problems in changing gear, particularly of first and reverse, I have of late been pursuing a momentary 'clank' noise that emanates from the clutch whenever the clutch pedal is released. The noise, which incidentally is only ever p...

Anyone discovered what that mysterious 'clank' from the gearbox area was?

I vaguely recall that, many months ago, one or two forum members with 1.2 TSI 6Rs were complaining of hearing a momentary and just-about-audible metallic 'clank' noise coming from the gearbox area of the engine compartment when driving about. Did those who reported this ever find the cause? I've now...

Re: 2016 VW Polo 1.2 TSI fails first MOT on CO2 emissions

Yeh, I've realised that the reason that neighbour of mine with the Audi currently has an MOT result and an emissions printout that's so different to the ones shown above is (a) because his Audi is a diesel, and (b) his is a 2018 certificate and since May 2018 emissions regs, particularly for diesels...

Re: 2016 VW Polo 1.2 TSI fails first MOT on CO2 emissions

I drive a 2017 Polo 1.2 TSI and so, as yet, mine's not undergone its first MOT. And because of that I'm not sure what an up-to-date genuine emissions report looks like. But it looks to me that this might be a case of the blind leading the blind. Carbon dioxide is CO2 , whereas carbon monoxide is CO ...
