Re: Brake clunk

Hmm, an interesting discussion. For around a year now I've been trying to pinpoint two really annoying noises on my 2017 Polo 1.2, one of which is a brake noise most definitely coming from something associated with the front brakes, maybe directly the brakes themselves. It's got to the point where I...

Re: Manuals?

Brilliant! I've now had a look at that. When before I was searching through all the PDFs for the wiring diagrams I must have flicked through just the first few pages of 'Airbag systems' and rapidly concluded that that PDF was just dedicated to airbags and maybe seats. What didn't help either was tha...

Re: Manuals?

I tend to agree with wolfie, the EasyManuals basic package doesn't appear to include any wiring diagrams (circuit diagrams). Since first acquiring the package I've looked thoroughly over it and haven't found anything of that sort. It looks as though the Erwin set that ciclo has mentioned above conta...

Any ideas as to the cause of this noise?

For at least a year now, I've been trying to pinpoint the source of an annoying metal-on-metal 'clank' noise on my Polo 6C. I'm hoping that if I describe it and the circumstances under which it happens, someone in these forums might be able to fathom what it is, or maybe have even encountered it the...

Re: Manuals?

ciclo, For my download of the basic package from EasyManuals, what I don't have in the set are the following that I see in your ErWin package: Amarok - Basic Equip .. Wiring D 6R 1.2l petrol .. Wiring D 6C Airbag, ... Transporter - Basic equipm .. But possibly, in mine these might have been given di...

Re: Manuals?

I too have recently purchased a Polo 6R/6C package from EasyManuals. Thus far, one of the best buys ever for my 6C. With EasyManuals you can get the requisite manual in various different formats - DVD, USB thumb-drive, or a download. I opted for the download, as then you can transfer any or some of ...

If that's the case, then so far I've been doing it correctly. But was Dink talking about bleeding, or changing?

Re: Brake fluid?

Yeh, now that's something that's been puzzling me a bit, ciclo. I'm sure I've seen before, elsewhere in these forums, different sequences suggested, depending on whether it's a change or a bleed. But can't think why it should need to be any different. Before doing my change the other day, I read som...

Re: Brake fluid?

I am correct in describing the Laser 5642 and its smaller brother as a positive pressure bleeder. It's positive in the sense that fluid is driven through and out of the car's system from positive pressure applied by the device at the car's reservoir. I took the trouble to discuss the matter and conf...

Re: Brake fluid?

Once again, there is no vacuum created, either in the device or at any of the nipples. If there were vacuum created at the nipples, you'd get air being drawn into the system via those nipples. They are better described as positive pressure bleeders , positive inward pressure into the braking system,...

Re: Brake fluid?

wolfie, Let me clarify a few things for you. First, VW dealer workshops in the UK buy in and use for themselves 50-gallon drums of 501-14. Or at least, that's what I was told by the local dealer's spares dept guy. That's how they manage to service vehicles brought to them. The pressure bleeder devic...

Re: Brake fluid?

wolfie et al, I've just done my first Polo brake fluid change, so am offering here some additional help points. In my case, a change was done not so much because it needed it but more in the course of me trying to track down a brake/clutch noise that's been bugging me for months (still remaining uns...

Re: 2016 VW Polo 1.2 TSI fails first MOT on CO2 emissions

Well, this might not be the last word in MOT legislation but read what it says about the emissions test result at: http://www.safermotoring.co.uk/understanding-exhaust-emissions-test.html Regardless of whether the car passes that test or not, you are supposed to be handed a signed copy of the result...

Re: 2016 VW Polo 1.2 TSI fails first MOT on CO2 emissions

RUM4MO, I think you're mistaken as to what is the norm here. I still have the printouts of tabulated emissions results for my old Golf that go back to when I first had that car, namely the mid-1990s, and I cannot recall any occasion before that when I didn't get one either. How on earth is anyone ev...
