Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls

SRGTD, No dealership services my Polo; I do it all myself; always have done; makes for an easier life. So, in my case, something such as an annual service has no bearing on whether this item gets exchanged. RUM4MO, Just to make it clear: I expressly said "this is not an integral part of the car...

Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls

Yes, dumb indeed. When you go along to your VW dealer and order in a spare part for a job you plan to do on the car, you don't have to leave the car with them for two or three days, do you? So, why would you for this? Especially as this is an accessory, not an integral part of the vehicle. No, inste...

Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls

" ...if you had done this back then, either VW UK would have then deleted your car from that official safety recall because they had officially swopped towing hooks, or deleted it from that recall because they had worked out that your car's towing hook was in fact okay" . I'm afraid you've...

Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls

RUM4MO, Both of the sites vehicle-recalls.co.uk and regit.cars/recalls/vw-polo show that the tow-eye issue is relevant only for South African-made Polos starting with VIN no. WVWZZZ6RZHU084389. Mine, however, has a VIN no. a fair bit earlier than that, so on the face of it my particular Polo does no...

Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls

It was last week, when the MOT tester handed me my pass Certificate, that he pointed out that VOSA was now including recall messages on the Certificate, ie. if it said there was at least one recall that was outstanding on the vehicle, you were advised to go to your VW dealership to get the matter in...

Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls

I googled the matter of the code-letter for the year of manufacture and was able to avoid the use of a 'decoder'. I discovered that, with the 10th character in the VIN being 'H' in my case. the nominal year of manufacture was 2017. Figures. Unfortunately, this alone doesn't get you very far, because...

Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls

Having now pursued those links that you guys have given me, the only website where my VIN no. or registration no. worked was the 'european' one. That site's quite useful, I found. The news is not good, however. Yes, the poorly-manufactured tow-eye is indeed listed as a recall instance for my particu...

Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls

RUM4MO, Yeh, it could just be about that wretched tow-eye. That was 4 or 5 years ago now. VW produced a replacement tow-eye for the poorly-manufactured one (a weak weld on the eye itself) supplied with the vehicle in 2017, but when I took the original one along to my local VW dealership for a straig...

General query concerning VW Polo recalls

Does anybody here know how and where I can access a list of Recall Notices for VW Polos of the 6C type (manufacture years roughly 2014 - 2017)? At an independent garage, my 2017 6C (1.2 TSI 90 16v) underwent its annual MOT just recently, and on the MOT (Pass) Certificate that was issued was the mess...

Re: Gearbox oil: G052171A2 vs G052527A2

" ...... but just over the little hole on the plastic cover". Only over one hole, then? As you can see, in my situation there are two small holes in the cover around which the oil collects and then drops to the ground. Mind you, it may initially collect around one hole but then as more of...

Re: Gearbox oil: G052171A2 vs G052527A2

Combattant, Yes, I already had the torque settings for the fill and drainplugs. What I didn't have, and what you'll not have had either, are the recommended torques for those three screws/bolts. At the time, and as I've stated this was around 5 years ago, I did go along to my VW dealer and buy a bra...

Re: Gearbox oil: G052171A2 vs G052527A2

It was about 4 - 5 years ago when I was doing that. I remember that I checked with my torque wrench and the appropriate bit that none of the bolts/screws in that concentrated area were loose. I couldn't check, however, for a specific torque setting because I couldn't find any of them quoted for thes...

Re: Gearbox oil: G052171A2 vs G052527A2

Thanks. Here's my gearbox, viewed from a different angle (from my nearside, bearing in mind that mine's a righthand-drive vehicle), and I've annotated with arrows what I now presume to be the three screws, having viewed your pic and read your comment. Have I understood correctly? When doing the full...

Re: Gearbox oil: G052171A2 vs G052527A2

"To remove the maximum quantity, it's possible to unscrew one of the three screw at the bottom to creat a open and drain the rest of the oil".

Just out of interest, to which three screws are you referring? (Can you show a picture of them?).

Re: Gearbox oil: G052171A2 vs G052527A2

You wrote: "But it's damn expensive (60 euros/liter) and I'm not ready to pay over 150 euros for 2.1L of oil (yup, because you need three bottles)". Are you quite sure of your facts there? My 2017 TSI 1.2 Polo 6C has essentially the same 02T gearbox as yours, and looking at VW's official s...
