This is my first post on here, I've had a few VW Golfs and Passats and we own an UP! and a T5 in the family.

My son has just got a 2008 Polo 1.2 Match 5dr for his first car.

We want to fit an Aux-in socket and I think I've established that I can buy something to plug into the cd changer socket ...

I'd think that there are two possibilities, if not more that I have not considered.
1) faulty locking mechanism in driver's door
2) cut/chopped/breaking/broken wire(s) in the area of the rubber flexible boot that covers the wiring coming from the car to the door.
