Possible Gearbox problems

Hi Folks Have had my Polo (2016 1.2 Match) for two months - mileage is now 11200. Generally very pleased with it. I think I am detecting the start of a transmission problem - occasionally there is a small hassle to get into reverse (intermittent and this happens I know on most cars) BUT there is now...

Re: Tyre wear

Wear on both tyres on the inner edges suggests that the vehicle is toeing out too much. Go to a reputable garage with modern equipment for a check and correction.

Re: front strut.

Surely the easy route was to ask the garage for fuller details whilst you were there. I suspect they are referring to the top strut mounts - this is not a difficult job to do.

Re: Slightly bent rear axle beam

What happens if you go into reverse? - do you experience the O/S/R lifting? Find a quiet non busy place and try it - then report back. I ask this because a badly binding brake will lower the cars rear - in forward motion. If this is the case, then a lifting of the O/S/R would take place in reverse. ...

Re: Slightly bent rear axle beam

Sorry that the OP has spent all that money and time unnecessarily. As Alexperkins says... IF the frame IS bent, do not attempt a forced applied correction - replace it. It would be quite rare for this to happen. Note that disparities in camber angles is quite normal. As a matter of interest - have y...

Seeking information

I would like to find out if any warranty work have been carried out to the car I have just bought - the car is just 14 months old.

Is there a VW website where I can find out this information?
Thanks in advance

Front tyre replacement 185x60x15

Hi everyone soon I will be replacing the front tyres. Presently, these are Continental Premium Contact 2's. I find them quite noisy, and not the smoothest running tyre. I have been a long term fan of Michelin, and wonder if forum members have done a swop from continentals to Michelin Energy. Would b...

Re: Glowplug Warning light + Power Loss

Hi there LightSV please clarify 'cant get over 3000rpm' - if you are stationary, there is a limiter that prevents over revving - the instant the car has movement this restriction is negated. If you mean that whilst on the move you cannot get past 3000 rpm - then the problem has not been identified y...

Re: buying 2012-2013 Polo 1.2

Potential Timing chain issues is the area to apply caution. Check if any corrective work has been done.

There were two attempts to overcome this problem - but only the second kit fix did the trick so be careful.

Re: Glowplug Warning light + Power Loss

regrettably sounds like EGR / DPF issues - VCDS scan will confirm this. How long have you had the car? Did it come from a VW dealer? Was it issued with a warranty? There are rare cases where the wiring loom has given problems. Very often, just turning off the engine will return things to 'normal' bu...

Door Edge protection

Having trouble finding front door edge protectors to suit my 66 plate polo match. The door edge is 'robust' - and has a raised ridge on the inner side that stops conventional push on types from seating. Has any one found the perfect type OR will I have to use one of the stick on types? Thanks in adv...

Re: Brakes Bleeding Problem: pedal is still soft

I cannot see any mention of rear brakes. Are they Disk or shoes? If they are shoes.... have you played around shortening the handbrake cables? You may think why is this guy asking this question.... there is a reason based upon a full automotive apprenticeship and some 25 years in the workshop. Also,...

Re: Please help a new owner

Thank you so much SRGTD you have understood my question, and provided all the answers that I needed. My unit is the basic cooking one, therefore does not have Sat Nav facility - having established this point - all fell into place. I guess that the "Genuine Volkswagen SD Card" in no way app...

Re: Please help a new owner

Thanks for your response To clarify - the data plug mentioned is NOT an SD card but the larger (white) push in unit that goes into a slot under the dash on the drivers side. It came in a VW box that is marked with a bt pin number. The Volkswagen SD card has (as I understand it,) an entirely differen...

Please help a new owner

Hi everyone. I'm New to this forum, so please stay with me if I ask some questions that may seem to come from a 'thicko'.
