Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout

Hi monkeyhanger, I appreciate the input. I don't know why, but I thought the 3 year warranty wouldn't apply to electrical items. I'll give them a call on Monday and report back. Thanks a ton. If you're already sure its not the fuse, anything else electrical should be covered. The manual is woefully...

Re: Mk10 Fuse Box Layout

Can't help with the fix, but has the AW Polo been out long enough in the UK for anyone's to have a lapsed 3 year warranty? If your car is under 3 years old then its a warranty claim, get it booked into the dealership for a free fix and then find out what that fix was for future reference.

^ Benfield group were the local group of dealerships in and around Newcastle/Northumberland. They used to have VW dealerships at Newcastle, Silverlink, Hexham and Morpeth, under "Colebrooke and Burgess" (known locally as "cock-up and bodge it"). My local dealership group. They got swallowed up by Lo...

Re: Winter Checkup Dealer Experience

I feel qualified to offer opinions on the dealership in question, and the Southampton one. You've refrained from naming (moderator- feel free to censor if what I'm about to say breaks any rules) the dealership, but living in Tyne and Wear, from Teesside originally, but lived the second half of my ch...

Re: SEL 1.0 TSI 95PS or 110PS?

Or, given the girth of modern cars vs the same old garage width, you're more likely to damage your car getting it in and out of the garage than someone is likely to pinch it it or vandalise it beyond the size of your excess to make it worth claiming on your insurance. If its parked on the road rathe...

Only £40 increase? You're spoiling us VW! :P

Re: SEL 1.0 TSI 95PS or 110PS?

As SRGTD's done the homework on actual prices, I wouldn't mess about looking elsewhere when your dealer is beating the DTD price for the 110ps variant. Is it an in stock car? If it is and hasn't yet been registered, get them to add the service pack. Its cheaper at point of registration than afterwar...

Drivethedeal is cheaper than Carwow and you don't have to faff about waiting for offers to roll in - their price is there for all to see.

Don't forget to buy the service pack, it will save a fair bit of money vs standard service prices at your dealership.

Re: SEL 1.0 TSI 95PS or 110PS?

Don't pay RRP. - look on Drivetgedeal for the best prices and use them as a yardstick as to how much you should be getting your dealership down to. Given you want this car next month, you'll be looking at a car that's already been built and is in the UK as unregistered stock or is about to arrive in...

Re: Stop start and braking

The wife's Evoque has limitless hold when you press the brake pedal hard. First time I've come across that in a manual car, I'm more used to the versions that only hold for a few seconds. It's brilliant, every car should have it. The manual MK7 Golf will hold indefinitely so you don't have to sit o...

Re: Stop start and braking

If the Polo had a full electronic handbrake or was set up with limitless Hill hold, there's no reason why you couldn't come to a stop and take your foot off the brake without yanking the handbrake on. My A4 works like this - the DSG isn't set to try and pull the car as soon as you let your foot off ...

Re: Oh god, snow and DSG.....

Having Tombstone tyres won't be helping things. They're so hard, it's like driving on Summer tyres at -5C, when it's Summer. Using them in the Winter is much worse, like driving on wet glass. The wife's GTI+ on PS4 is still very grippy. Using full manual mode does take some getting used to when DSG ...

^^ Unless its 3 years old (possible for the very first AW Polos), why not get the dealership to sort it under warranty?

Re: Stop start and braking

I was referring of course to most VW Polos cars as usually specced. I think few drivers will be paying out £620 for adaptive cruise control. Neither will most drivers want to pay out £690 for lane assist, £450 for park assist or even £260 for a rear view camera. Out of that little list, ACC will be...
