Dashboard lights
I am a bit puzzled by my dashboard lights - those lighting the speedo and tacho. They do not come on with my side lights but they do come on with dipped beam. They sometimes come on when I turn (in harmony with the front dogs, nearly) and then slowly dim. They sometimes come on when I first turn on ...

Re: Dash cam hardwire fuse selection
It is very easy to do. I got a NextBase Duo and the fuse jumper extension lead. I connected it the the cigarette lighter (Polo Blue GT 2017)

Re: rear suspension coilspring lower bush - should there be one?
Did you notice any difference in noise before and after fitting? If they were indeed metal, I suspect not much difference.

Re: rear suspension coilspring lower bush - should there be one?
Thanks for the exploded drawing iichel. Part 3 would be the so-called "underlay". I guess this is an idiosynchratic translation of "unterlage" which would have been better translated as "pad". This part is the one that people are suggesting has made from aluminium? I th...

Re: rear suspension coilspring lower bush - should there be one?
Ah right, I have been reading that thread, I'm still thinking about taking action about noises in my wife's August 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL 5 Door - it emits noises when load changes, ie sounds very much like power train mounting systems though nothing rubbery has been torn as far as I can see. T...

Re: Polo 6C removing boot lining and trim
At the moment, all I want to do is to lift away the small parcel shelf and trim at the top each side. I will then have access to see what is behind and maybe slip sound-deadening pads in as well.

Re: rear suspension coilspring lower bush - should there be one?
This is my lower coil fitting (Blue GT 2017). Looks like something very thin there at the interface. I have been having trouble with noise that I suspect is coming from here. I agree that is what you can see there, in case I missed reading any other postings you have made wrt this, what sort of noi...

Re: Polo 6C removing boot lining and trim
I presume you mean double bolts. The blocks have lifted away OK.

Polo 6C removing boot lining and trim
I want to get to the inside wheel arches in the boot but I am stuck with removing the lining and trim. I have checked this forum https://uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?t=60339 , but after removing two torx holding the block at the back of the seat and the one torx holding the trim at the back of the boo...

Re: Changing rear coils on Blue GT
I am a bit loathe to jack up and take the wheel, and liners, off at this stage. I prefer to experiment with the least intrusive tweaks first. I was able to insert the rubber blocks while the car was parked as normal in the garage. On my Mk1 Skoda Fabia 2.0i (I actually had two identical ones, tradin...

Re: Changing rear coils on Blue GT
I have tried inserting a rubber block into the coils but, surprisingly, to no effect whatsoever. I took a rubber sanding block: http://www.gistar.co.uk/SandingBlock.jpg I fashioned two small blocks with v-notches and put a hole in: http://www.gistar.co.uk/CoilSpringBlocks.jpg The size was enough to ...

Re: Changing rear coils on Blue GT
I had the same problem some years ago with a Triumph. I had some ‘coil spring helpers’ lying around the garage. They were essentially small shaped blocks of springy rubber that you inserted between the extended coils, once returned to normal height they were trapped by the coils. They altered the h...

Changing rear coils on Blue GT
My Blue GT has only 7,300 miles on the clock (still 2 years to go on warranty), but I have traced an intrusive ongoing cabin noise to the coils at the rear. By 'plucking' the coils with my fingers, I can match the frequency to the noise in the cabin. I note that the coils do not sit on any form of d...
