Re: Extended warranty - Has anyone taken one out? Is it a good thing to have?
When I initially ordered mine and it was delayed, I spec’ed a 4yr service plan and a 4 year extended warranty, which by the time I took delivery 18 months later, any plans over 2yrs where no longer available, but because I had got it in writing at the time of ordering they honoured the agreement, &a...

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
The car is back at the dealers to fit a new boot lock under warranty (only 2 years/15k miles). The original lock failed, and fortunately I have a habit of checking the doors & boot after locking the door and disabling the keyless entry, I discovered that the boot lock was hit & miss & wa...

Re: The Great Tyre Debate
I went around them all yesterday to double check that they where tightened, btw what is the correct torque setting for the wheel bolts?

Re: The Great Tyre Debate
I received the £50 cash back, but I discovered another thing. Although I cannot prove it, I was washing the car today the 1st time since the tyres where fitted, and discovered that one of the front wheel studs is missing, could the tyre fitters have missed one when refitting the wheel, or has someon...

Re: The Great Tyre Debate
Once the £50 cash back has been factored in the 4 tyres will have cost me £344.80, so there isn’t a huge difference in prices

Re: The Great Tyre Debate
Bump: I’ve just had a set of 4 x 225 PS4’s fitted today for £394.80 and I was informed that Michelin are running a promo for cashback or a prepaid MasterCard of £20 if you buy 2 tyres and £50 for 4 tyres fitted to 17”&18” rims. The promo is valid until the end of May, all you have to do is uploa...

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
I took the car in at the weekend for its 2nd service (year 2), and they told me that the aircon sticker is the wrong one, and they’ve put a replacement on back order. I’m also getting the occasional warning light for the proximity sensors that control the ACC, auto parking, and emergency braking. Tu...

Re: 10k oil change
Mine received the 1st service/oil change on Tuesday (26th May). The palaver getting it done was interesting due to the social distancing measures they put in place. I have a 4 year service plan with my local franchise dealer rather than VW directly, this costs me £27.50/month with all the minor and ...

Re: Dashcam cable routing
Don't fret about the fuses, glass fuses are there just in case and between my 2 cars I have 7 years operational use on the 2 F770s and have never popped a fuse yet. Ironically the fuses I was waiting for turned up in the post an hour after I made the post, so they are installed and all is good Park...

Re: Dashcam cable routing
Update: the camera is now no longer asking for reformatting. The hardwire power supply is connected albeit with 5amp blade fuses in the tappers instead of the 2amps I intended to use, as I’m still waiting for the eBay package to arrive 2 weeks after I ordered. I’ve set the parking mode to motion det...

Re: Dashcam cable routing
It’s easier for me to source & replace a blade fuse than a glass fuse. I once let the smoke genie out on another vehicle years ago by using too higher fuse, so waiting a couple of extra days for the fuses to arrive is insignificant as it’s working. I need to check the 770’s settings because sinc...

Re: Dashcam cable routing
I too have left it a year to get around to fitting the rear cam and hardwiring the setup, up to now I have been using the front cam powered by the cigarette lead, I didn’t notch the rear view mirror cover as there was just enough gap between it and the headliner for the cable to pass. Im Still using...

Re: Dashcam cable routing
I found feeding the rear camera cable easier than I thought, I was able to ease the door seals back enough to be able to slip the cable inside the edge of the roof lining, and pushing it in the joint between the A,B and C pillars. Then once I got to the tailgate I eased off the trim at the top rear ...
