Faulty spark plug/Limp Home Mode/EPC light - 2018 Polo Beats SE 1.0L

Hello,

My 2018 Polo Beats SE 1.0L has done only 37,000 kms. From new it has had a range of technical faults, and has now been towed twice to VW dealerships for warranty repairs.

Latest issue involved faulty spark plug and carbon build up in cylinder 1. One evening car lost engine power ...

Re: RON - 1.0 litre turbo Polo ?

Thank you all - for your tips and excellent information.

Yes, I see now on the filler cap that RON95 is recommended. Cheers.

I live in Australia, and RON91 is still available.

Thanks again. :)

RON - 1.0 litre turbo Polo ?

Hello,

Re: 1.0 litre 85KW Polo Beats, with DSG

What is the preferred fuel RON for a 1.0 litre turbo Polos? Is "premium" unleaded 98 RON fuel the preference for these cars?

I recently used unleaded 91 RON fuel in my Polo - and I believe the vehicle appears to be exhibiting sounds of pre-ignition ...

Speed Gauge - Accuracy

I have a new 1.0 litre 85KW Polo Beats, with DSG. I'm wondering how accurate the Speed gauge is.

Does anyone know if modern VW under-estimate current speed? For example if the Gauge states 79 KPH...that it's really 75 KPH ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: DSG and ‘D’ mode

I'm with you Martin-GTi.

I've owned a 2018 Polo Beats, DSG 1 litre, since August 2018 - and I too feel the DSG makes odd/inconsistent gear choices in D mode. It feels like the engine is often labouring - when on an incline, or pottering along at 70kms per hour on a flat road. I find myself paddle ...

New Polo Beats - Knocking engine / erratic DSG

Hello All,

I recently took delivery of a new 1.0 litre 85KW Polo Beats, with DSG. It has now travelled 2600 kilometres. The car is mostly great, but I do have some questions about its’ operation.

The engine, as revs increase, appears to produce a knocking sound/vibration – above 2400 RPM. I don’t ...
