Well I have just tried the same Vagcom setup to read a mates Audi codes and with that you could get into the engine module and actually read and clear the fault codes. The Audi was slightly newer, but it did use the same 2 connectors so I suspect that the LED test that I'm doing is simply that, an ...

Well I have tried it again a number of times and am getting a consistent result that doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever:-

4 short flashes
11 long flashes
4 short flashes

Going to take it for a spin shortly and see if it has made any difference i.e cleared the codes, reset anything :?

I already have the VAGCOM for the mk4 Golf so the easiest way for me to set something up for interrogating the ECU on the Polo was to get hold of the additional 2x2 adapter.

Going to try it again now and see if I can interpret the led's.

By the way, the reason I'm doing this is:-

Basically the ...

Ok.........in my previous surfing and due to vehicles I've had in the past, I remembered that I came across this:-

http://20v.org/fault.htm

What do you reckon the chances are that they might actually be the same?

I know this question was asked a year ago but as I have just tried it and had very little success, I thought I would raise the subject again.

I've managed to get it all connected up ok and connection is confirmed by VAGCOM. However, none of the controllers can be read so I'm wondering if you need ...

Service Interval - oil, oil filter, cam belt?

I've now clocked up 3000 miles since buying and puting my Polo GT on the road. I did an oil and filter change straight away but as I have no service history or manual I wondered if someone could confirm if I'm right with the following service intervals..........I'm guessing it will be much the same ...

Re: Rattling brake caliper

Hi,
My nearside front brake caliper rattles when I go over small bumps in the road. Anyone had this before? The bolts through the bushes into the carrier are nice and tight, however there appears to be some play between the bolts and the bushes..........are the bushes known to wear?

I've tried ...

Most common fuel leak is on the filler neck where it goes into the tank, lots of mk3's suffer from rust there. If you're getting 400 miles to a tank though it can't be a very bad leak ;)

Ah yes I have heard that. I have 2 mk1 Golf's and they are prone to that too. Will have a look. Is that right ...

Fuel smell and general running?

I noticed quite a strong fuel smell from the car when I started it up last night. Is there anywhere in particular the GT's are prone to developing leaks? I've removed the airbox and most of the induction and had a good look around but cannot find anything obvious. Whats more it appeared to be fine ...

I missed it but there are others about so I don't think it'll be long before a bargain comes my way. Went for £100 in the end too!

Hmmmm, well this strikes me as a pretty good buy:-

Only 1000cc but would be fine for the misses and looking at the poster in the window he obviously isn't expecting much more than £100

Head gaskets

Hi, I've got my eye on a couple of mk3 Polo's that are going cheap because the head gasket has gone. Replacing the head gasket won't be a problem and skimming the head, if necessary..........but just wondered if there was something I should be aware of as to why the head gaskets have gone in the ...
